My Non-Photo Tank

Enjoy! Animals have been in here for several months. Fed daily LRS, ROE, and live cultured phyto. A dosing pump feeding various FM powdered foods is also a used several times a day.

Tank has no skimmer (in there but not plugged in), a CPR tumbler with AIO biopellets, and mechanical filtraiton. Tank gets huge water changes and gravel vacs weekly.

It's an IM 25 gallon shallow tank. It was a sad compromise, I've always had larger, more elaborate systems. Originally the tank was just a holding tank for my old pair of clowns and a rather rare Japanese collected Plesiops. Over time, I experimented with NPS and after some success I decided to dedicate the system to them, particularly the Diodogorgia genus.

Everyone (including me at one point) has a tank with some zoos, frogspawn, and a couple silly named acros. I just wanted to go in a different direction. I had great luck with corkscrews many moons ago, feeding a constant supply of enriched live brine shrimp, but unfortunately they seem to have gone MIA.

so your saying you dose powered foods a few times a day along with feeding the fish?
asking as I would like to get a few on those gorgs. to add to my collection. All mine are non NPS tho and was thinking I could set up a doser to dose BRS reef chili 2x a day.

Have you had any algae problems yet? That's what did in my yellow finger gorgs years ago. But I was trying to keep them in a well lit hard coral reef, which wasn't a good idea. Do you consider them hardy in your system?

I don't. The water chemistry is what many hobbiests would consider toxic. Nitrates are around 100+ ppm and phosphates are well into the 1-2ppm. I just removed the sand to see if it makes an improvement.

Very little algae aside from the standard green on the glass. I have a little bubble algae. The gorgs do occasionally grow algae on the tips. I just have to make sure to quickly remove it. I do consider them hardy but you have to be diligent with feed to maintain strong polyp extension. Feedings every other day would be a minimum. 2-3x a day is what they get on my days off when im home.

Thank You for your answer!I also thinking about removing the sand ftom the tank,cause my nitrates are over 50.Chaetomorpha just started to grow fast,hope that it will be helpfull

Not really. The refugium is an apocyclops rearing tank. Both tanks get complete water exchanges once every week or two.

It's a blueberry fan (Acalycigorgia sp.). It has been the most stubborn on in my tank. Even when all other coral is happy it refuses to open up. I will probably lose it.

I love it. I have a 20L bare bottom that I'm about to move my two clowns into. I have it beside a huge window and am toying with the idea of a few NPS or low light corals. I do not have a light on it yet and am kinda thinking about leaving it without light. I probably get 6-7 good hours of good natural sunlight daily. Any thoughts or ideas?
