My Own 180gal Tank

Flamehawk

In Memoriam
Good Morning all. Had some time this morning to play with Photobucket. What a cool site.

Anyhow, have some pic of my tank at home. My 180gal was an upgrade from my previous 7 year old 58gal tank. I moved everything into this tank and this tank is about 3 years old.

Specs are:

LIGHTS:
72" Maristar PENDANT w/ (3) 250watt 14K HQI Phoenix bulbs and (4) 39 watt true actinic T5's with leg mounts sitting on top of aquarium. HQI ballasts for the MHs.

CIRCULATION:
(2) PanWorld 50xx (1,100gph, 90 watts). One is return, the other is closed loop with 1/3 HP Chiller plumbed outdoors.

(2) Tunze Turbelle 6100's on controller.

Skimmer is a EuroReef CS8-3.

Calcium Reactor is GEO 8" Diameter by 24" Tall.

The sump is a 40gal breeder with 2 baffles.

And that's pretty much it. Thank you to my lovely wife for taking pics of my own tank. She already has more than enough pics to take.

Let's see if this works.

Any questions on my tank, feel free to ask.

NONE of the corals you see are for sale, please dont ask. this is my own personal tank :) My OWN slice of the ocean :)

Great stuff man. Great clam, Is that a Harlequin and do u have some crabs and snails left LOL. Beautiful.
Another quick q. My 1/3 is plummed outside under an overhang and my fan died after 6 months, i've since replaced it and so far so good . I've built a little vented shed around it thinking that water was the problem. How's your experience with this and any comments would be appreciated. THX

I've had these Tricolor Rics for close to a year but they're not splitting the polyps just keep getting bigger and bigger, they're silver dollar size and bigger when the flow calms down.

The red lord came back from the dead. Had a big spot of algea taking over the skeleton. Cant even tell now :)

Hi, the Harlequin doesnt actively hunt the snails or hermits _yet_ but he still small, about 4". The real snail killer is a residnet mantis shrimp that has no mercy. I can see the little bugger but i cant cath him!

I say if the inside of the components of the chiller are getting wet then the situation is no good. Mine is on my porch, it gets a tiny little bit wet whener there is a LOT of wind which makes the rain go horizontal.

The key is keeping it dry while at the same time allowing for excellent air flow/ventilation around it. Insulating the pipes coming IN and OUT of the chiller also helps not making it work so hard.

Hope this helps, JOHNNY

Johnny, great looking tank, wouldn't expect nothing less from you. I have a question in reference to your light fixture, I been having a problem with some burnt corals and I suspect that the problem is a a small gap between the two pieces of glass that are under the light fixture, my Maristar uses two 3' glasses that join in the middle exactly under the double ended bulb filament.
The Gap is about a 1/16" and the corals directly under show a burn mark along this line, I was wonder if you have notice something similar and if so how did you corrected?

Very nice tank! The diversity is crazy in that tank. It was funny, after seeing the first pic, I was going to say "Clearly you're a man who enjoys his favids," but then going through the rest of the pics, you've just got SO many of each type of coral, that it's beautiful, and nuts, all at the same time.
