are they known to be territorial? i have them in a barebottom FO 120g setup as a holding tank because im gonna sell them and dont wanna have to try n net them with rocks in the way.. they keep circling each other kinda, they look like they r trying to nip fins, but never really nip each others fins..
should i increase flow to keep them occupied? i have 1 800gph powerhead in there with 20 of them, about 3 inches long each..

What are peppermint angels? I've heard that increased flow can help anthias, but never read anything about it helping angels. You could put some large diameter PVC so that the less dominant individuals can get away. Maybe small mirrors could help keep more aggressive individuals busy. Keeping them well fed will also help keep aggression down.

heh.. not many people know about peppermint angels.. they r extremely rare in the hobby (rarer than sea dragons).. and people pay a pretty penny for them

Ummmmmmmmmmm, are you saying that your angels are C. boylei!!!! They were one of the first fish in my head when I read your post, but I thought that it wasn't possible. Man, how did you get twenty? Are they for sale:D ! What price would you sell them for? Can you get pictures? Don't leave me hangin':D !

i know what a peppermint angel is.. lol
i know someone who can get them regularly.. so i bought 20.. i would get some sea dragons too but i dont wanna risk them dieing..
whats the going rate for peppermints nowadays? like $8k a pop?

I thought all angels were territorial - why wouldn't you expect these to be? If they are that valuable, I'd spread them out in a few tanks. You can provide a few large rocks that can be removed when you are netting, as well as some PVC for cover.

yeh i have 20 of them.. i am acclimating them to get rid of stress from shipping before i resell.. i will probably keep em for a month before reselling.. i put freeze dried plankton into ice cube trays and fill it up with saltwater.. then i freeze it.. then i put 2 cubes into the tank daily for feeding.. this is to make sure they eat what is in the tank and the smaller ones can eat too..

The first C. boylei or C. narcosis{they were both collected off of Raratonga} sold for $13k dollars in Japan, so $8k wouldn't be unbelievable. C. boylei aren't reportedly very hardy so I would do anything possible to keep them from getting stressed. What are you getting them to eat? If you wouldn't mind divulging your secrets, who do you know that can get these fish in? I always like to know where I could get rare fish, since they always tend to be my favorites:D !

Well, I thought it looked kinda dumb to ask a question when the answer is already there{it wasn't while I was writing}so I figured I would clear that up.

I dont get it.
You put 20 specimens of boylei in a 120G tank without isolating them, and now you're trying to get them to eat....why you just dont sell them, you surely going to lose fish.

Vili, I have my 20 boylei in a 119G, everything is fine my friend. They actually gather around each other, drink tea and gossip.

8k, man you guy are getting ripped off. I just picked up a pair for my 5 gallon nano last weekend and they are breeding like rabbits. I feed mine french toast and they are doing great.

If the adults get french toast, what do you feed the fry? I'm thinking cinnamon toast crunch cereal...
