The thread could have just been deleted, but posting in it to crack at me and then closing it immediately is a bit childish.

If "appropriate moderation" is the same as unequal moderation, then yes...you're right.

Ban me dude, if your ego is that badly hurt. I don't live for this site or any other. If you want to allow others to speak their mind, then you know that's not the "appropriate" thing to do. However, if you want to make some wise crack and then ban me, you're just further proving my point.

Problem is, it is ETRC's forum and they set the rules and have the power. Kind of like arguing with the guys at the security station in the airport -- it will do you no good and get you in trouble. We live by their rules so long as we value this forum enough to post here.

Do you feel the same about the moderator that makes wisecracks towards members and then locks a thread? ...or do you feel that way and just won't say it?

He could have deleted a post, but chose not to. It's the equivalent to sucker punching somebody and running away.

No sleep will be lost if I get banned. No bills will go unpaid. No harm will come to me or my family... so it's not that big of a deal.

Besides, Joel...you know as well as I do that football is no more relevant to reefing than my post was...but since you like football, you're defending it. Rules are rules, but is it ok to break them for your interest and not mine?

Oh but it is different. This is a reefing forum. There are dozens of real estate websites, forums, and other venues to sell/rent property in K-ville. Surely your post is appropriate there.

So violating rule #1 (apples) vs violating rule #2 (oranges) is what we're talking about. The popularity of a thread doesn't exempt if from rules, does it?

No popularity doesn't exempt, and discussing football and things unrelated to reefing (within reason) is in violation of no forum rules: "Reef Central exists for the non-commercial exchange of information." The buying/selling areas of RC, including local forums are an exception, and those are for "propagated corals and other tank bred or raised livestock" and "used equipment and other drygoods for sale." "Hobbyists only. No Businesses."

Yes, I like football, and housing. Feel free to discuss, just not sell... This isn't a place to sell or rent houses. Is this really that hard to understand?

You're right. It's a reefkeeping bulletin board and not something to get all upset over. And certainly not something the volunteers who run the site need spend extra time on.
