Hi,

I've had my puffer for about 10months now, he usded to go crazy at feeding time. Now, he's really slow and I havent seen him eat for at least a week now. He's not as aggressive as before. He even gets really close at the food and then he just turns away. Doesnt try to eat it. I feed him the bottled dry krill. So I tried the frozen krill yesterday and still the same result. What should I do, try? Thanks.

Check your water quailty, could be a problem there. Try feeding his some thing else like pieces of shrimp, clam or silverside and see if it will eat it. Puffer from time to time will slow down and do nothing but just sit on the bottom of the tank so I wouldn't get to worried as he is atleast going for the food, just not eating it.

Ok thanks. I'll check my water quality. I guess Im feeling a lil better since you said puffers sometimes slow down a bit. Im hoping he's just going thru a phase? :p Maybe thru a depression?? Hmmmm, he might need some prescription pills? :D

I always mix it up with my Porc puffer. Seems to help. I feed anything from, Frozen blood worm cubes, Frozen krill, whole shrimp, scallops and clams from the supermarket and silversides.

My Puffers personal favs are:

1) Frozen blood worms and Krill
2) Shrimp
3) Clams

Anything else is Blah to him. Picky eater. Has expensive tastes!.. Can also try entice and garlic additives;) Also helpful.

Water conditions are probably a huge cause?

How does the puffer look in all? Healthy no spots or bumps-pimples i call them. lol

Any new additions to the tank causing stress?
