My Project ★ GENESIS ★ 110G (Miracle) SPS Dream Tank - (I) Pre-Build Thread

I would cut 1/2" around and fill the void with material cut from gray insulation pipe noodles and cover it with TopGun 400 caulk that can be painted.

Thanks. Exactly what are Gray Insulation Pipe Noodles? The Wraps for condensation? I think I have one lying around. Energy guys were going door to door and giving them out for free. Water Conservation Shower heads too (Awful for water pressure in shower)

Something that I can do later, since I really want to get to the other side of the Wall on this project.

Thanks. Exactly what are Gray Insulation Pipe Noodles?

MORE Drywall MUD DELAY (Thing to do anyway) Access Door.

I learned a lesson. Never MUD when you don't have enough. Skimping just doesn't work, and delays things another drying.

That Far wall now needed a bigger coat. Tank Area wall is done.

While waiting to dry I did the ACCESS DOOR (Multi Purpose),
but mainly so I can swing the Magnet Glass Cleaner around the one corner.
(I always had to tape one magnet on the Office Side and then Drop in the Magnet into Tank to clean Office Glass.

THE ACCESS PANEL isn't Perfect, but at least I figured out how to do it.
Will cut a better piece later. (or maybe Never) since it will be behind my Desk Monitor anyway.

NEXT......I Stain and Seal the Trim so it can be installed.

Interesting idea but I think I like the cleanness of no trim.
The desk is big and dark. Extending the dark wood beyond the desk with the trim will be distracting imo...
Hmmm. I'm holding off on any Trim Staining.

I painted the right side wall and bottom since Drywall is ready.

A startling transformation happened when the Green Drywall disappeared. Looks really slick.

Maybe Matching Trim Color to Wall might be better.

I have to wait till the everything is painted around tank to see.

Pipe noodles [emoji23] . I'm a plumber, might have to start using that term instead of calling it lagging.

I also wouldn't worry about sagging/cracking for your purposes Wally.

Cool. I have a plumber participating.
I could have used you when water was coming out of ceiling at 2am last October and I shut off the house Main Water Shutoff, and the shutoff started leaking.
I had to use a funnel and some fish tank hosing to run the 2nd leak to the basement floor drain since a puddle was spreading near the shut off.
I called the City to shut off the street valve...but before they cam
I learned that the NUT on the Shutoff Valve twisted open and was the cause of the Shutoff leak.
A simple tightening stopped it.

COMING TO AN END (Final Push) OFFICE MOVED OUT

So I'm getting excited as the last wall section dries.

I moved out everything out of office (except Desk) across to the finished flooring area.

Once I Sand and paint I can finish flooring up and around fish tank.

The tank keeps looking smaller and smaller the more I enclose it (at least on Office side)

Really really close to the end of this phase of the project.

Almost there, Wally!
Keep it up!
Yup.

Matt, start rolling up your sleeves, your assistance will be needed shortly.
You had your tank leak and got thing restarted somehow after fix.

I need to start crafting a plan/ideas how to Start the New tank.
Just dump water from 65 into 110 and top up on same sump?
All new Water with just Rocks and Bio Material in Sump?

Bit soon, but fish are getting impatient. So am I.

GIZMO TIME (Speed things up)

I think "Impatience or Quest-For-Easier" got mankind to invent tools.

I'm both right now.

SPEEDING UP THE MUD DRYING

Gizmo to make Cutting WPC at STRAIGHT cuts Better than Square Rulers (without Wiggle, or slips)

MAN CAVE TIME !!! (( Office/RecRoom Installation Complete )) Time Lapse of Last Stage

Yup. The Tank is done on the Office Side.

I will leave Trim Decision after I move back desk.
Not at all sure what Kind of Trim. Tank Looks a Bit Bleak the way it is now.
Need a bit of contrasting Trim. Maybe Fish and Corals. Not sure.

Not Much revealing in Photo Above since I made a TimeLapse Movie of last hours of installation.

Did this for Wife and Kids since they would only pop in for a second, and don't appreciate all the Steps and Hard work.

I actually had all 3 kids install a WPC Flooring Piece each to understand the efforts. They were briefly interested but ran away as soon as I let them.

HERE IS THE TIME LAPSE VIDEO (Little choppy) NO MUSIC.

YOU TUBE VIDEO HERE (12 Hours OF WORK compressed into 1 minute 20 Seconds):

At the END OF THIS WHOLE Project, I'll make a A-Z installation video.

TIME TO TACKLE THE MAN CAVE (Sump Room) after I put back the office/desk.

THE REAL FUN is about to begin.

FINALLY!!!!

Wally

Wow, Wally, you just made it look so quick and easy! ;)

Matt, if you are talking about the WPC Flooring Install, it can be quick and easy.
Great Knife Score, Snap and Click Install Technology.

But since I am a perfectionist, I spent a lot more time on the Artistic side.

Selecting Plank Print Patterns so that no two rows are columns every repeat.
I even went further to ensure Wood Knots Prints wouldn't bunch up.
Sometime picking my next piece would take 5 minutes since I would look many columns and rows across.

Also I did very random variable width Length cuts to staged the tiles. So that a Straight (Seam) wouldn't appears across the room. Only every other column seam lined up (Less waste on Material) but the Staggered Neighbour seams throw your eyes off.

Sure nobody would notice this, or maybe they would.

To me, I'm very proud or the Artesian laid out Floor pattern.

MAN CAVE Central Command (Office Setup Restored) Tank Trim Option

I never would have guess in a Million Years on this possible Trim Color.

BLACK seems to fit. (I just put Black Electrical Tape around the Wood Color Stand Bottom for a try)

I still need to see what things look like when Tank is Up and Running (at lit up).

Matt maybe this is what you meant when you said Just End in Drywall Color.
However there still is a issue with the Lower Water Line Cover up.

BTW. The View from my sitting working area is amazing!! (With the Flush Glass-TO-Wall)

FINISH UP (Rec Room/Office) Pre-Build Thread (Part 1) is OVER.

I pushed myself to Finish the Rec-Room.
Want to Enjoy a Sunday of R&R since Sump Room is another Big Effort Project looming.

Just Shoved everything (Tools/Materials, Garbage) out and into the Unfinished Hallway.

Brought in stuff from Storage Area near Sump room since which was crammed packed.
I haven't done a Water Change (in both tanks) since Early November since no room over there.

And completed the Rec Room.
