My Purple Tang...

treat the seaweed with selcon or garlic.will go a long way towards bringing him back. I used to buy tangs with HLLE and heal them so I can re-sell them. I just hated to see them suffer. the condition can be reversed it just takes a while. also, if you are not using one already employ the use of a grounding probe.

I will get a grounding probe, that's next on my list.
How about the Kent Marine Garlic Xlixir (I believe that's what it is called)?
Who makes the Selcon? Is it the same things as Zoecon??

I dont know who makes it, the product name is selcon. is in a pinkish bottle with a cartoon maroon clown on it. great stuff. vita-chem is a real close second. kent marine garlic is great. I also use the crushed stuff from the grocery store. just get a few drops fom the bottle and soak it onto the food. fish love it. just dont get discouraged if you dont see results over night. this takes many weeks to heal up.

yeah it's not hard to do, just keep the water clean and i'ts nutrition up. 6 mo from now you will have a much different looking fish

You should use the Vita-chem at least 5x's a week...this is a vitamin supplement...Selcon is more a fatty supplement, helps the fish put on weight

You should also try feeding a bigger variety of frozen foods....here's what I got:D

Formula one
Formula Two
Prime Reef
Emerald Entree
Marine Cuisine
Enriched Brine shrimp [make sure it is enriched or Brine shrimp plus...the regular has no nutritional value]
Mysis
Cyclopeeze
hmmm....I'm sure there's more....oh well.....Get different colors of algae also. My fish LOVE the purple algae!! [they hate the red, don't get the red;) ]

Anyway....Good luck with this fish..MHLLE can be reversed with lots of TLC!! And just think...you have an excuse to buy a bigger tank

;)

OK. Sounds good. I will use the Selcon to fatten him up a little. He really likes the Red Macro Algae I got from the LFS. My bicolor blenny likes it too!

With a good, varied diet, purple tangs usually heal from HLLE...especially if it is a small specimen. Lots of algae...good water quality...very little stress (being harassed by other fish), and I would think it will make a full recovery.

Good luck...purple tangs are great fish.

how many times a week should i give him Nori sheets? Everyday?
He's the only one in the tank that picks at it.
I can always put a smaller piece up everyday that is soaked in VitaChem...

Ok sounds good. The seaweed wont boost my nitrate level? B/c it has gone up to 5ppm now from the amount of feeding I have been doing the last couple of days. I just did a water change which should help. All the other water parameters are the same, which is good. I just want to offer this fish NO nitrate...Ill do a 10% on Saturday again...that should be alright.

So seaweed clips as much as possible? It wont overfeed this guy?

Wow it's only been a couple of weeks and there are huge improvements already. I'll snap some shots and show them...
His lateral line is totally healing and the hole in the head spot is almost closed!!!
