My Rant

BTW Reef a roni love the Nazi pic, has no business in this forum. Hmmm you wonder why people get [profanity]. Maybe you thrive on [profanity] like that I don't. *EDIT*, and if you don't like it take it up with me at the next meeting, I'll be more than happy to squeeze you into my schedule. I get sick and tired of all the BS posts in here, last time I checked this was Reef Central not Yahoo Chat Central.

There are some very knowledgable people in here and it would behoove alot of you to suck this information into your craniums, not only in the FRAG forum but read the others as well. People come in here looking for answers but with all the BS how can they get an answer.

You have Phil, Fliger, FrontosaMan, KirstinK, and alot of others who have a ton of knowledge, but its a freakin game to see who can get there damn post count up and be the GOD of the Post Count. Like I said earlier, its not the quantity its the quality of the information you put in those posts that matter. So far from what I can see those posts straight up suck up mop water like a dry mop.

Yes you may sit and laugh at me and thats OK, but I know my tank has prospered through what i have learned here, thru the people I have met, talked with, and asked those questions, not by my post count, nor by the BS O/t threads that i have to weasel thru to get a thread that deals with this hobby.

Do I have a right to [profanity] and complain about all the BS thats thats going on with these stupid [profanity] posts that have been popping up. Yes, just like the person/s who author/post those threads.

Irregardless I'm just another millimeter in the penis of the Salt Water Aquarium Hobby just like each and every one else and maybe its time for those of you who think its fun to play games on these boards, post BS O/T threads, and generally ruin an environment for people to come, Honestly ask a question and get an Honest answer and maybe learn something, because obviously the people who have the time to sit back and post inane crap KNOW everything.

I asked the mods about OT posts (because I'm fed up with OT count we have) and was told they were not against the rules in club forums.

Senn,
If there is a next time that you have to be reminded about what is and isn't appropriate here, you won't be here to breach the <a href=http://reefcentral.com/agreement.php target=_blank>User Agreement</a> any longer. Evading the profanity filters, personal attacks and calling people out are not what RC is about. Take that where every you want, but take it away from here.

As far as the "BS" posts you mention, you'll find them in the local club forums. We tend to be pretty forgiving of OT threads, as long as people remain civil, and within the <a href=http://reefcentral.com/agreement.php target=_blank>User Agreement</a>. Perhaps your time would be better spent sharing your knowledge in the general forums, where people are generally going to look for advice, and OT threads are not the norm.

Nope those are not nazis and if that was a vieled threat you just shot at me ,Anytime man ,I wont be threatened by anyone...sensitive,sensitive,sensitive.If youre calling me a jew hater ,Or a nazi supporter,I'll call you a thin skined idiot,.,..If I was mistaken about your post I apoligize.

I really dont see what the big deal is with the OT threads. There is more to life then your tank and reefing, and thats where the OT threads come in. I dont thinks in inappropriate to share whats going on in your life outside of the reef in a club setting. It lets people get to know each other on a more personal level, which for a club seems like it would be a good thing, since the whole point of a club is to build personal relationships.

How hard is it to just scroll a 1/2" further down the page to the next thread if you dont like OT discussions. It doesnt take any longer, because all off topic threads start "OT:" which should give it away instantly. Just dont open those ones, and move on.

I dont really understand where some of this anger and animosity is coming from with some of you people. Why is it so hard for some of you to just let people be who they are and take it or leave it without making it a personal issue. If something upsets you are offends you about someones post just ignore it, 90% of the time is sarcasm which doesnt translate well to a typed format.

Sure there have been times when I have read posts and thought a response was maybe a little harsh or out of line, but I just log it in the back of my head to take whatever that person says with a grain of salt in the future. Its not hard to figure out who are the genuine people who are here to help and who are the people who want to be sarcastic and petty.

Thanks for reading, thats just my two cents.

did he really get the boot?
wow no one can take a joke huh (if that was a joke)
i thought i had short fuse, must be the AZ heat...
sorry guys, im just trying to get my post count up!!!

I don't mind the OT stuff either - I do plenty of it. But this forum has really gone downhill. I really hardly ever come around anymore, and don't really read the dramatic threads - so I don't know who is feeding it - but I'm glad DgenR8 is doing something about it. I've seen a few "threats" and just ignored them - couldn't believe it, especially among a group that hangs out once a month. I can see the headline's now "Local Bar Brawl at Pranksters in Scottsdale, Reefers (not reefer) To Blame"

I don't think I'm the only one who doesn't visit this forum as much.

I used to read the So Cal forum but a similar think happened over there, lots of good folks stopped posting, lots of Mods hanging around and lots of banning. I read it from time to time and its still not recovered IMO but its certainly better than what it became.

I love posting philosphical replies in OT threads. It makes me feel like I might be helping others understand the principle of the Golden Rule - treating others the same way you would like them to treat you....

and others times, I just feel like coming into a thread and stating what a bunch of Dorks all you Drama-Queens are....

Not you, Chris. I like what you had to say.

All the rest of you that gravitate to these threads and post your disrespectful BS, and then get butt-hurt when other people sling it right back at you, I'm gonna quote a RATT song from 1984:

"Round and round- what comes around goes around...."

There's your free clue. Either use it, or just go away.....

I agree with Fliger, Rob and Chris. I haven't been posting or crusiing rc very much lately because of all of the disrespect. I started coming to this forum to learn, increase my knowledge and make friends that have the same attitude I have. Unfortunately I haven't seen a lot of threads on here lately that do any of the 3 things I mentioned above. I'm a stay at home mom and if I wanted drama, I'd start watching Days of Our Lives again. Let's try to do what Rob says. Treat others how you'd like to be treated. And something that this mom is going to say that I'm sure your own mom used to say...... If you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all. Chris, first beer is on me at next frag meet :D

"Treat others as you would want to be treated"
That's a great philosophy, and a great place to start.
You should all already know that RC is vast, and this forum is just one of many. I'm not saying that the locals in here don't know their stuff, but if you're looking for answers, there's a much wider audience to project your questions to "out there" in the main forums.

I'm a little lost about what a millimeter of a penis (to quote the founder of the thread) has to do with any point other than to express destructive anger and hate in the post at colleagues in the hobby.

These points have all been made before on FRAG--but usually without sharing a "who I hate" list, and quite frankly, without the extreme hostility, to put it kindly. There clearly was a loser, sadly--for whatever reason, Reeforoni took the bait, and got the boot. Which begs the question--who ruined the RC environment for whom? Destructive threads are NOT a function of being on or off topic--they are a function of what is said, and how it is said.

Finally, not only is calling out people for what you perceive as their faults (# posts) in seriously bad form (the whole golden rule thing), but the accusation is just plain wrong. Dead wrong. First off, I happen to know that some or all of the people noted in the hate-post have lives (as in jobs, children), and that they don't just sit around with a bag of Cheetos logging posts [which would make a great South Park premise, btw--kinda like the 'world of war' episode].

Further, I know I am not the only one who has hit up each of these individuals with a LOT of questions---and gotten back responses that were gold. In fact, when I got started last summer and was buying lots of things in the valley, one of the villians you noted invited me out to dinner with their family while I was in PHX. No points on the post count for that--just points on the good person/altruistic person/plays well with others scale.

I'd like to see us get back on track with meaningful threads and posts, EVEN if that means posts on The Suns or trips to Cozumel or anything else on- or off-topic.

Sumner - I don't think Chris is naming villians here. I read it as several people he feels are knowledgable and others who are here to inflate their post count. At least that's the way I am taking it. :D

And Larry is completely correct. The forums here are a vast database of knowledge. Nothing against the locals but if I need questions answered on lighting, skimmers, how to beat AEFW, cool reef fish etc I go to the forums. It really pays to get a wide range of opinions. Actually I search first. If you are not a premium member I strongly suggest you pay the pittance it takes. The value of the search is worth many times the $25 yearly fee.

OH--in that case, Phil, I reall misread that part of the post--I feel badly. In that case, Chris I owe YOU an apology on that part of your post. I misread thinking you were attacking these people who have always been very helpful to other reefers, IMO.
