Came home from work 3 days ago to find the head of my cleaner shrimp in the mouth of one of my rbta's. Was hoping it was a skleton of a molt..not so. The rbta was well fed w/ a chunk of silverside the night b4. (I feed them twice a week: variation of scallops, silversides, fresh fish & fresh shrimp:eek1: )
They have both been the tank for well over a year.

Has anyone else experienced a bta nem eating a family member in their tank????

Im sad to say that the same thing happened to me. I have a 4" diameter green haddoni carpet that found its home right smack in the middle of my 75gal's sand bed. Been nursing it back to heath after getting it from someone who left it in the dark for a couple of weeks and it was bleached completetly white. He's doing great right now... a nice lime green colored specimen.

Well, I brought home two cleaner shrimp from the LFS about three months ago. One immedietly took a home/station on the right side of the tank (where he still is). The other one was testing the other side, but didnt really find a place. Well about three days later, I count only one cleaner shrimp.

"Honey, wheres the other shrimp.. do you see him?"

"Here's one on the right... he may be hiding or something. Don't spend too much time 'playing aquarium', we got a busy day today... "

"Yeah, you're probably right...."

And I go about my morning business. It was when I was looking at the tank with my freshly brewed coffee that I see the two antenna sticking out of the anemone's mouth...

I screamed, "You got to be KIDDING ME!!!! You ate my $20 shrimp!!!!! If you wanted shrimp I would have fed you all of the fresh shrimp you wanted for 1/500th the price!!!! ... BUT YOU HAD TO EAT A $20 DOLLAR SHRIMP. EVEN I NEVER HAD A $20 DOLLAR SHRIMP BEFORE!

Yep. thats how the story goes... My haddoni just sits around all day, basks in the sun (*cough* MH *cough*.. but he dont know that...) eats bon bons and some very pricy seafood.

The shrimp probably was not the smartest boneless back of the bunch, and strayed too close, or was probably spooked by the domino damsel that constantly harrasses the shrimps by running and screaming "... scratch my back... SCRATCH MY BACK!!!!"

BTW... the only way to stay sane in this crazy hobby from times like these is if you name ALL of your critters and give them voices and caricature personallities. It stops you from contimplating hrmmm.. Anemone + Blender = FUN!
