Also, in the pic it's zooxanthellae that's being expelled. That happens during acclimation, and actually can happen anytime. It's not something to be alarmed about.

i had 2 gigs that both survived

one was ill---not as bad as this mag---to my judge

durin acclimation, whenever the gigs gaped their mouth, the nemos---in particular the more tender and smaller male just jumped in and nipped the mouth and the mouths got back soon

believe me, i watched very closely about the process. the nemos judged, they snouted first. the same happened to the mag, when the purple waster got out, they judged and when the mouth was kinda ok, they nipped away the waste. when the mouth became worse with softer inner parts out like in the latest picture, they don't brutally nipped away the waste but swayed their tails to get the waste away

i guess nemos r kinda good at maintaining their home. i only tried occellaris and percula

and two months later after acclimation, i never saw those pairs repeat such mouth nipping behaviors

yet once before i had btas and gigs, it's really my first time to see such zooxanthellae expellin. the sick gig just kept smokin out from its mouth as if a chimney. i have still yet to understand how it recovered

that nem looks good to me. if its mouth is closed i wouldnt worry as much ..from time to time in my observaton all riterris will deflate maybe a small corner of their tentacles and then be back to normal within an hour or so give or take. i would only worry if it completely deflates and doesnt re-inflate or if the mouth is always open.

very sadly, the mouth never closes very tightly and gapes out occasioanally

I agree, the mag looks good. I would leave it alone. Clyclop eeze is a waste on a magnifica, in my experience. Again, I would suggest a small fresh piece of shrimp from the seafood dept. at your grocery store.

Your anemone has been through a lot of transitions recently--something that they don't like. It takes weeks oftentimes for a magnifica to settle in. I suggest you just accept that the anemone is going to do that for a while and not be overly concerned.

i wouldnt consider that gaping, its big but at least its not inside out..I would just let it be for awhle and let it get used to the tank. as always just make sure the clowns arent beating up or irritating it worse. i think i mentined how my clowns love to dig by my nems mouth, just make sure thats not the case with your clowns. they can be pretty rough with their nems

none of'em hosted my rbta's so i don't know if they do so to rbta's

I agree that is not gaping...
Also honestly the thing has made it this far. It should be ok as long as its requirements are met. If it was going to get a bacteria infection, it most likely would have happened already.

Anemones deflate that's normal and they do it more when they are acclimating to the tank conditions and especially the lighting. Allot of times this is caused by it getting more light than what it has been getting. They shrink to have less surface area to collect light from. They expand get more surface area to collect light. So if they are getting more light then they are used too, they will shrink more often till they adjust. They will also expel more zooxanthellae..

Dude! Your killing me. Just leave it alone and continue with your regular maintenance. Water changes and so on. It needs to acclimate! There isn't anything in this hobby that reacts quickly to anything. The one thing I've learned from this hobby is PATIENCE!

Just leave the freaking thing alone. :headwally::headwalls::furious:

thats why i always suggest (esp with new mags) for people to take their clowns out or at least put a cage over the nem as t not let the cowns bther it..IMO if clowns dig at a mouth it just makes the nem worse and worse never being able to acclmate...at this pont i would leave your nem alone and let it takes it course...

the first one was very sick---but not as sick as this mag

it kept smokin and deflated and inflated

i guess actually the nemos helped it

they digged its mouth and got away lots of mucus and waste

and little by little, the gig recovered

the latter one was taken out of in a friends' tank so it was really health. it never deflated and inflated. whenever the mouth gaped, the nemos digged and a month later, the nemos never did the same
