My Sanjay Photons

I purchased this pair of clowns from Sanjay in September 2012, (Sanjay's Photons) They were successfully breeding in his system...
Tonight is the first time they spawned for me...
I think the clutch is small maybe +/-100 eggs
You will probably want to turn the volume down some, I was trying to hide behind my protein skimmer so they wouldn't see me... I didn't want to scare them......




I had just mentioned to Ed yesterday, that I thought we should knock the bottom of the pot out for more water flow for the eggs, plus if the female get to aggressive with the male he would have an escape.... I guess we waited to long.

The clutch is small but the male is keeping his eye on them...
Since this is my first clutch with them, I'm trying not to stress them out too much with pictures, etc....

So I was able to take one picture of the eggs this morning.... The clay pot is in the back corner of the tank, so not too much activity from us or the fish....

Hopefully I will be able to raise a few of the fry....

I really needed to clean the glass before I took the photo... But I feel like I'm already stressing them out taking the photo!

The male is doing a fine job with the eggs while the female is far "behind"

Are they Darwins?

No...not exactly..... The Black Photon Clownfish came about from the unusual pairing and subsequent breeding of an Onxy Percual clownfish and a black and white Ocellaris clownfish.

Thks.So they are hybrid Darwin x Onyx percularis.Look like light nose Darwins:beachbum:
Offspring will show if they become a fixed strain or they show the typical variability of hybrids.

Day 5 and the nest is looking fantastic... The eggs are gray-black with the dark black forming the backbone, and I can see the silver eyes are forming....

I know this will be a "small" batch and Tuesday is hatch night, I'm just super excited to see how the babies will look!

No babies tonight... Maybe tomorrow...
This is their first batch of eggs, so this clutch may not even make it.
If not, I will be prepared for the next batch... Hopefully!

So far so good on the babies :thumbsup:
It's really hard to tell how many there are right now... maybe 12-15?????
I haven't seen any dead one yet....

I'm hoping the next batch will be a little larger.....

Two weeks later and 4 PM my pair is laying eggs again...YIPEE! Im hoping this clutch will be a little larger...
The babies from the first batch are still doing well... I guess we have about 7 babies...

This clutch of eggs is a little larger than the first batch.. This is what we were hoping for... The color of the eggs looks great too!

The first batch of babies are doing extremely well too! Today I'm planning on cleaning up the tank so I can take some pictures and planning on adding the sponge filter...
I think I'm going to introduce Octomina A tomorrow in hopes of skipping BBS....
