My Shallow Cube Build Thread

Very nice tank!! That should make a real clean setup... what lighting are you planning on for the new build? Any reason you went with clear silicone instead of sexy black? (Can you guess my preference  )

Hope the stand made it in today and I can't wait to see what you do with this one!!

Since I went starfire I didn't want the black to look bad. I dunno, preference I guess.

The light I'm using is already hung. Look a few posts above to see it. Two 250w phoneix 14k and a single 150w phoenix

Ok, so apparently I missed about 15 posts on this thread... hmmm...

Love the super sized light on the tiny tank

Been looking at the BRS reactor myself... if I ever get my sump plumbed in

hey i know you're switching tanks, but question about the sand from your shallow.

is that carib-sea sugar sized? if so, where did you order it from?

thanks!

Yes it is. I picked it up from my LFS

Looking good..........did you buy the cover they sell for the overflow box? I built a small cage out of eggcrate for the top of the overflow box to keep fish from going over.......

Yeah I did. I like it, I should have my stand one day this week and set it up. I'll get some updated pics soon

Stand is in. Identical to my old one, just bigger

My tank is way too heavy for me to lift alone and I am tired of hearing my 4yr old complain trying to pick his side up so I'll have to wait till tomorrow or this weekend for better help....... kids!!!

very nice - things are definitely moving along - congratulations! you sure you don't need to ship me that blue tort to hold for you while you make the move :)

Couple updated shots. The water is still very cloudy from the change over and new sand. I lost a couple corals to RTN with the change over but overall doing ok.

Looking good!!! Love the aquasacpe... very clean

Don't know if it was answered, but who built your tank??

I ran outta room in the 65 already (50+ frags and a couple of small colonies so far) so I bought a used Glass Cages 120, but it's the ugly euro-braced kind, so I'll use the ugly canopy that came with it... still trying to save up for the ubercube build... might have to go 4'x4' now  I think I might need an intervention :D

Keep up the great work!!!

Thanks guys!

I did not build the stand. There is a local reefer that does and he has a great touch with wood. Its build with solid 3/4" cabinet grade oak. All hand crafted to custom specs and built like a sherman tank.

I too am addicted to the clean look of the rimless tanks. I absolutely love it.

Unfortunately I did get a bad RTN case on my big tort and one of my other colonies in the change over and I had to chop them up in an effort to save them. Crossing my fingers that it fixes the problem.

Actually, my tort was RTN'ing from a bad electrical leak in one of the two brand new koralia nano's. I was very unhappy to see a 2 month old power head doing that.

Couple updated pics. I did have to chop up the tort but its doing ok now. Water is starting to clear but I added more sand a couple days ago so its back to cloudy again.

I really like the aquascaping, tagging along. Becareful about the midas they are jumpers. I had one jump out of my rimless.

WOW cham...
that new tank looks amazing!!...GC did a real nice job on the build...
how thick is your starfire glass?...
I'm planning on building a 50 gal cube (24" square x 21" high) and just ordered 3/8"...without any euro bracing
hoping I didn't make an error...
