It was literally impossible to catch a pic of the Fridmani in the tank. I got him on Saturday he's still shy.

Here he is in a collectors cup type thing.

Any focus on the what your going to keep? Seems like it'll be SPS dominant tho

Well Sandy destroyed my tank, and 99% of all my corals. I lost my cleaner shrimp, Red Sea Fridmondi (which I absolutely adored. much better than the normal purple pseudo. it literally flashes blue and purple all day).

Around day 2 of the blackout, my tank was a good 50 degrees. I warmed up RODI in water bottles and tried to heat up the tank. Right around this time was when I noticed my SPS giving up. My anemone shrunk to the size of a quarter. My clown was barely moving, and the fridmondi was MIA. I had no service in my house. I had to drive 10 miles to get Edge (AT&T Iphone 5). Day 3, I get a call from my GF who lives in a different town telling me she has power. I grabbed whatever I could from my tank, took a spare 10 gal, my radion, mp10, all the Renew and phos-xtract I could find in my house, 2 TLF reactors, and a heater.

When I got to her place, everything looked like crap. I set up the hospital tank and everything went down hill from there. I tried to do whatever I could. I got water from a LFS day 5. I did a 50% wc. Day 6, all the sps was gone. I am hoping that it was not from the water I bought from the LFS, and that there was simply too much die off. Day 8 I did another 50%. This is when the anemone started to look better. Day 10, I get power back at my place. I moved everything back home and started up my display tank. Since then, I have done (on the display) 1 50% WC, 2 25%, and every other day I do a 10% change. I do a 25% WC on the hospital tank about 1-2 times a week, depending on the parameters. I had a huge nitrate spike on both tanks. The parameters have been stable for almost 2 weeks now. I saw some small snails and hermits emerge from the sand a week or so after I got the tank back up and running. I expect to put everything back in the display by next week.

My lfs hooked me up with a sweet deal on a Picasso. He has adjusted just fine to the hospital tank and eats like a pig. I might need to get a larger anemone or keep stuffing this one's mouth. I also purchased 2 harlequin shrimp. Pics to come later tonight.

Update: got a new sump, 20"x20"x15", eshopps economy cone skimmer, added some sand to the display. will probably get everything in the tank tonight or tomorrow, depending on when the water clears up.

Sorry for your losses and Sandy prob lems . I hope everything works out in th your new tank. I was wondering how you liked the bh50 and why you switched to a different skimmer?

thank you! the bh50 wasn't bad at all. i made the switch because i got a great deal on the new skimmer and custom made sump, that i couldn't pass up. i basically traded all my old equipment that was laying around from previous builds. also, the new skimmer will be in handy when/if i decide to upgrade to a 60g cube.

I really like the shape and orientation of that tank. Well done. I can empathasize with your plight, living in Delaware is a challenge as the power grid is weak at best and power goes off quite alot. There is a gas generator coming in my immediate future. Keep up the pictures, I cant wait to see more.

Thanks! Some old pics I found..

As of right now...light! I haven't seen light on this tank since before sandy. It felt great.
