My shallow reef

Figured ive lurked on here for years so i may as well introduce myself and show my work in progress. My name is Randall (screen name is an engine i ran in my old drag banshee)

Ive been in the hobby for about 10 years now, still learning new things to this day, that in itself intrigues me. I currently own a 48x24x12 mixed reef.

This is it not long after bringing it home, i was prepping to drill holes in my brand new home. Wife was a little upset, but she loves it now.

The sump is placed in my garage so it makes water changes very simple, and make the cleaning of equipment much less messy!

This was the 2nd or 3rd attempt at my aquascape, and is pretty much my final aside from adding a few pieces of rock and swapping out a few small pieces on the left side, for one large chunk. Everything was in the initial stage of the good ol diatoms here.

I dont have much photos of the in between stage on my phone so i may have to rob them from my other build thread. The tank in the above pic was taken in early april, at that time i ran LEDs, ive since gone back to a T5 with 2 Kessil 360s. Im much happier with that combo!

kind of a dark shot, i only have my phone camera so pics are rough but im running the gyre 130 for my flow along with the dcs, 6 bulb tek fixture with all ATI bulbs, along with the 2 kessils. i run the kessils 6 hours a day, the actinics 10 hours, and the daylights for 8 hours. Corals all seem to be very happy so im letting it roll.

This shot was before i swapped the rocks out on the left side.

Salinity is kept at 1.025
Alk stays stable at 9.8
calcium runs a little high at about 460ppm
nitrates are about 5ppm
0 ammonia
0 nitrites
phosphate is about 0.08 on the red sea test kit
Temp is kept at 78.8-79.0 through the apex
Thanks for looking!
