My slowly growing Blasto collection

Ape- Yeah $125 is alot to drop on something that is real questionable like that. If it is still there next time you go you will definitely get a better idea of if it will make it.

That first piece that you picked up from that same LFS is really sweet. A real nice color morph that you dont see too often. I wish I had it lol. That is a shame that it didnt make it though.

Yeah, I was really cut up that it didn't make it. I made a real effort to keep it alive, but it just didn't pull through.

Thanks again for the advice and for sharing your collection!

With dieoff like that, it was probably a dying sponge or something similiar that took that one out. It's a common problem with corals sitting on a massive rock. The only thing that helps is sawing off the rotting rock, then fragging the coral with a generous safety margin to stop any secondary bacterial infection.
A really nice piece, though. Too bad we don't get CITES for those Indo blastos in Europe.

I'm making a mental note of this advice - thanks Sebastian! It might well be worth trying if I get another Blasto in similarly dire straights!

Here are some updated closeups of a few that are closer to the glass.

Same colony but with a flashlight so you can see the color differences.

Wow, you have one heck of a collection!!! Bravo! Nice macro shots too. Keep em coming.

I have 3 different morphs myself...1 particular one that is interesting is this one here. The polyps come out like cones with flat walls...not the puffy polyps you are custom to see. I snapped this with my phone.

Very nice collection!! Blastomussa are definitely under rated in the hobby.

Have you tried fragging any?

One of my blastos seems to be changing colors slowly.

When I got these blastos they were just a purply/blue. Then after a while of settling in they developed green on the bumps of the skirts and some green going towards the center.

I just looked closely the other day and I realized that the green streaks going to the center were now turning more towards orange.
