my SPS had this tag attached to it

When I bought it, there was a tag on a string attahced with the following: KSA12002696. Anyone know what it means?

Sounds like a CITES tag. KSA is typically known as Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which borders the Red Sea.

It's actually a shot in the dark, I have no idea how much if anything is still coming from the Red Sea. Saudi Arabia is or was a CITES member, so it is possible. The LFS would be able to look back and find the origin.

They're usually just tags used by a mariculturer (wild-farmed). Makes for easier identification for them.

I usually just cut them off, i've had corals grow over them though

Yep, sounds like a maricultured piece. They normally have those tags.
