Thanks tecsavi, moddy, jackson & DML08. DML08 equipments are very simple, I try to keep things more simples and easy as possible and I think this brings some positive effects on my tank husbandry.

My skimmer is a old model octopus PS-200.

is the skimmer a deltec? has a similar base plate. I'm looking for an external skimmer just like that, and I've been exhausting so many different options (trying to find something that will fit! with the correct positional orientation)

Great tank btw, just AA's and vodka huh? Glad to hear you're not implementing an insane amount of junk that makes it seem so difficult. You've obtained that zeovit look without going full zeo.

cheers,
Andy

do you think that the amount of indirect/some direct sunlight that the tank receives has positive effects on coloration or growth?
sick tank btw~

No, the skimmer is a Octopus External PS-200. It's an old model, but imo he do the job pretty well. More important is to make sure that it's clean inside so it can work better. Yes I think you can keep the tank nice and clean in a more easy way. I've been dosing vodka and bio digest on a regular basis but my tank has became to much sterilized and I started to lose some lps and soft corals. Now I'm planning to try the "reefbum" method. More nutrients input and more water changes. :)

Regarding coral growth I could say that the sunlight helps in somehow. But there are other negative effects that makes me fell that we should avoid outside tanks. IMO sunlight stimulates nusiance algae groth and glass algae groth. Also any outside tank must have a nice and reliable way to maintain water temperature. You will need I powerful cooler in the summer and I good heater in the winter, specialy for the small tanks like mine. Also sunlight spectrum dim blue and greens pigments so this is why I wait the sunset to take some pictures.

Kewl! yeah I've been looking at a few Octopus skimmers. 1+ on the crazy feeding and water changes! lol

Nice Tank!
What do you use for a Return Pump? Just wondering what the total flow in the tank is...
Thanks!
