hey. just wondering why my tangs are so skinny. they are the only fish in my tank that skinny. I can see their ribs and their stomach are "lumpy" they have been with me for more than 3 months. I feed them mysis shrimp.... i'm going to try it combined with flake.

I doubt its any external parasite becuase my ozone would keep those numbers down.

any suggestions? they eat like pigs, they just dont gain weight

I clip a piece of nori for my tang every day. For food, I blend up a bunch of seafood, some frozen formula 1, mysis, selcon, zoe, cyclopeeze, etc. I throw some shredded nori in there as well. My tang is pretty fat. :)

Anybody seen a yellow tang that DOESN'T eat romaine lettuce? In the past, all of my tangs have eat large amounts of it, but the one I have right now just ain't eating it. I'm thinking about the dry seaweed, but not sure if he'll go for that if he ain't going for the lettuce. Good thing is that I always store a chunk of leafy caulepera in the back of the tank, so I'm assuming he eats that.

I feed my fish frozen brine, mysis, and some mix with blood worms. The tang will eat about 4 pieces and then pass on the rest. Most yellows I've had in the past are all good eaters, not sure what's up with this one. He's not as skinny where I see ribs, but usually, they're nice and plump in my tank.

Any suggestions...you think he'll go for the seaweed, if he doens't like the lettuce?

yea. i use to do that with garlic x-treme by kent.

i did it because at first my fish were skinny due to internal parasites. so I fed them garlic

o question... why do sea veggies cost 6 dollars when I can get 4 times more at a chinese food market. both are just seaweed with nothing else. the ones at the food markets aren't as thin though so its hard for the tangs to ripe... but still!

Tangs are herbavours. That means they eat green stuff like seaweed and alage. Their diet need sto be more of those types of food, not of the meat varaiety that consist of mysis, brine, clams, etc. Try getting some nori from the local asain market. The sheets that are made for rolling shusi. It's cheap and is the same stuff you get at the fish store. If you like, soak it in selcon or garlic. Be sure and get the dried or roasted nori, not any of the stuff with flavoring in it.

My tangs are all fat, and I don't mean in just the stomach. I feed a sheet of nori a day along with pellets for herbavor fish every other day.
