It would take a significant other for me to get one of those!

It did for her also.

Ok, so here's my new and improved fish list:

  • Potters Angel - 5"
  • Bicolor Blenny - 4"
  • Two Spot Blenny - 1.5"
  • Tailspot Blenny - 2.5"
  • Neon goby (x2?) - 2"
  • Red-Striped Goby - 1"
  • Masked Goby - 2"
  • Leopard Wrasse - 6"
  • Axelrod's clown blenny (Ecsenius axelrodi) - 2"

Next to each fish is their maximum size. I will be keeping SPS among other things, and I don't want a super high fish load, but I think I'll be ok with the # of fish I'm hoping to put in because they're small (your thoughts?) I have heard that you can keep gobies and blennies together (multiple species of each genus) provided they don't look too much alike, so I think I'm ok, but as always your input is appreciated. The last blenny, Axelrod's clown blenny, I have not been able to find anywhere other than one of my marine fish books, but it's SO cute! Between that, the Potters, and the Leopard wrasse maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment ;) :p

That seems like a lot of fish in a 40 gallon tank that's going to have SPS........

I got 5 fish in a 30 and I know I can't have more.

But who knows, it may work.

That's why I'm asking everybody, to make sure I get things right the first time :) I've got more like 60-70 gallons of water running through the system and a pretty strong skimmer, but I don't want my SPS to suffer either :)

I have 3 fish in my 30. Not saying you have too many. I just like a light bioload. Helped when the power was out for 8 days.

total tank volume is between 65-70 gallons i poured in 13 - 5 gallon buckets into the tank but this is without her rock

probally after the rock will be 50-55 gallons

they let you lift 5 gallon buckets?

why not at least a lot lighter than 5x8 sheets of particle wood

But now you have to make nice with the Chadster... me... not so nice...

:D  :D

Lucky...

Got my rock today! I got 50 lbs from Astrea and 50 lbs from Phishy Business (it had been in John's tank for a week). The tank does not have all 100 lbs in it...lots is in the sump and some is in the 30 gallon frag tank. Here's what it looks like, I'm fairly happy with it:)

Looks nice.

One word of advice on your fish list. I had a bi-color blenny in my tank and my sps never had polyps extended. Once I removed him, they opened up. I never saw him pick at the sps but he must have been irritating them some time. Other RC members suggested I get him out so I did.

I don't have SPS so I can't comment on the bicolor. In my tank (no sps) he's been great. He keeps to himself.

The rock looks good.

This will be my first experience with SPS, so I have no clue :p I know that John has a bicolor in his 450 but that's 10x the water volume of my setup! One of Astrea's rocks has green montipora digitata on it (encrusted base is what's left) so that will be my "tester" SPS before I put something that I actually bought in there, like my rainbow monti :p
