Sorry if this offends you but I really think you need to step back and think out your system a little better. IMO, these are some things to consider: Your bioload - Your tank can only have so much in it till most consider it doomed from the start. Your equiptment - You don't have to start with the most expensive stuff but remember to adjust your bioload to your equiptments capacity. Remember this includes the size of the tank itself. Take it slow. The problems your tank just went through not to long ago (2 months maybe?) should have been a sign. Band-aid additives are nothing more than that - Band-aids. They don't get to the root of the problem and thats where you need to go to solve the problem. Just my opinion but if I were in your shoes I would be letting the tank sit and re-cycle (which you will most likely have to do if you had a crash (the ammonia that built up in the crash probably also killed your bacteria)). If you need a hand let me know.

No offense taken Jeff.

Last time was a Nitrate spike, yes I blamed that on bioload.
This time all my parameter were almost perfect.
PH 8.2, Nitrites 0, Nitrates 10, Ammonia 0, Phosphates 0.25.
(These reading were fresh after all the deaths and still staying the same)
Other than Ferric Oxide for the phosphates, there were no added band aids.

The only strange thing was that I was told the fish looked like they were dead for days,
although they were dead less than 24 hours after their death.

Exotic Fish and Coral said to seach for stray electrical current in my water.
Since every other parameter looked right, it's possible that may have did it.
I would figuer that swimming fish would not ground, like us stepping in a puddle of water.
But I will test it out later on today anyway.

The only fish unaffected were, one chromis, one lawnmower blenny, and one tiny green scat.
The only coral which survived were, one small kenya, a tiny piece of Brown Star Polyps, and a toadstool.
(large kenyas and GSP also bit the dust.)

All hermit crabs died, but all snail were fine.
Two anemones also survived without incident.

Thanks for your input
BTW: you won't see as much of a bioload as you saw last time.

I noticed that you are getting a ground probe. Be sure you only use it if you are using gfci outlets. If you use it without the gfci plug the results can be deadly for you.

Jeff,

These ground rods only have a one wire connection, to the circuit's gound wire.
In theory, it should safely ground to the water pipe or outside grounding rod.

Installing an additional GFI outlet is no problem, but I have a minor question?
How would a GFI make a difference?

thanks

Thanks for that link, it was excellent reading and answered my questions.

Now to hit Home Depot for a GFCI outlet, or better yet a curcuit breaker. :hmm5:

Damn.......Come on guys !
Nobody is selling any Fish?

I tried going to Bob at Exotic, who almost never puts prices on his tank.
Brian and Jeff say he will give me a great package deal, to restock my tank.

Two Weeks waiting and after multiple calls, Bob is still A.W.O.L.
You'd figuer with such a bad economy, he'd be more attentive to Cash Customers.

So now my search will have to lead me to Petco, PurrFect Pets, and All Pets Club.
I appreciate the little help I got from Brian and Jeff, but...
Thanks for wasting my time Bob, I won't ever bother you again!!!

O.K. I'm trying to bite my tounge but can't.

You posted that you were going to look at Bob's on the 6th, today is the 13th, how is that 2 weeks. Brian and Jeff told you that they were going to set you up. I know for a fact while planning last weekends meeting that Bob had some personal life things pop up that none of us want to deal with so it wouldn't suprise me if he wasn't in the store (thats why he has employee's). Not only that but I'm sure he has bills to pay and can't drop everything to deal with nickel and dime customers (which I consider myself also). I never tell someone what to say but I would refrain from bashing a store that bends over backwards to support the club because they can't jump to your calling.

Again, your tank just crashed for the second time in less than that many months. Tanks don't just fix themselves overnight which is why you are probably not getting a response from people. Not saying it has to be my way or my way is the right way but there IS a right way and a wrong way to set things up.

Can you please post pics of the tank you are requesting all these fish to go in?

Sounds like you are in a rush to get the tank fully stocked which in my opinion is only going to cause a massive ammonia spike and only cause the whole problem to start all over. You say you aren't going to stock heavy but when I see that fish list all I can think is here we go again.

Sorry if this offends you in any way but I think you need to hear it as I have to say it. Although it is only MY OPINION and of course you are welcome to run your tank any way you see fit.

I thought you were going to come in this weekend?

I got into work on Saturday and saw your names all over the tank "HOLD FOR LOUIS" - When were you suppose to come in and discuss prices?

Bob was there after 2 until close on Saturday and was there all day Sunday.

I think when you make complaints about everything you get from people nobody ends up wanting to deal with you. I have a Hippo Tang that I would gladly sell, but with all the nit-picking you make - its not worth the couple of dollars you'll be willing to pay.

Take your business elsewhere, that's fine, I'm sure we ALL shop around, but there is NO NEED to come on a board and begin bashing a store that tries to do nothing but help other people. Do you realize you aren't Bob's ONLY customer?

OK so sue me - ONE WEEK, I apologise!

I'm sure he has bills to pay and can't drop everything to deal with nickel and dime customers
Meaning no disrespect Jeff, But when I'm planning to send $200 - $300 in one pop.
I do not like to be called a "nickel and dime customers"!

I would refrain from bashing a store that bends over backwards to support the club because they can't jump to your calling.
I do not think with me say "Thanks for wasting my time Bob, I won't ever bother you again!!!" would be consider bashing a store.
I do however think that I can voice my personal opinion, and that's exactly what I am doing...

You are very right that he bends over backwards to support the club.
But when this "club member" is I'm planning to send $200 - $300 in in shot,
I think someone should have the courtesy of finally returning my calls

Especially when there's a cash customer waiting to eagerly and willing to spend major bucks,
yes - in my world a couple to several hundred is Major Bucks...

Again you mention that my tank crashed for the second time.
[violation]happens and don't you think, this is extremely heart breaking and costly to me too?

Can you please post pics of the tank you are requesting all these fish to go in?
No need for a picture, you've seen that it is a clean 90 gallon.

Sounds like you are in a rush to get the tank fully stocked
I never said fully stocked - but maybe perhaps partially stocked.

when I see that fish list all I can think is here we go again.
The posting clearly said "Looking for any of the following".

If Bob was there until 2PM, then he should had called me.
Let me count 1,2,3 - I only left my number with him, Jeff, and Brian.

I won't cry for that fish your talking about.
Tell Bob to keep it

He most likely still hasn't tought of a price for that one either.

Take your business elsewhere
I sure will!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you realize you aren't Bob's ONLY customer?[/
Now he's got additional time to take care of them,
since he now has one less......

HE should have called you?
Why?
Youre the one who wants fish so desperatly, he can sell those fish to someone else without having to sit there and play the numbers game. I highly doubt hes going to chase after people for sales.

Also - why on earth would you want to put all those fish in a tank at ONCE? I sure wouldnt. Too risky.

And you know what - take a day and stand in Bob's shoes. Im sure you'd lose your head.
The man runs around for a lot of people its hard to keep track of everyones wishes and needs. Give the man a break. He runs a great shop and stocks some great corals and fish.

Now that everyone has read this.. with an attitude like this no one is going to want to deal with you OR help you. Good luck!

Im done here.
This has gotten childish and out of hand.

bob said to louis that he doesnt need your buisness. and you are nickel and dime. every post you have ever written included im cheap and i want the best price. really you souldnt even own a tank. this is the second time this has happened so apparently you dont know what you are doing. you want cheap go to petco. and bob said for all the fish that louis had on hold are now 50% off to club members.

Let's not let this thread get out of hand as I still hope some good can be revived from this. We all know this is an expensive hobby and I am not trying to say the nickel and dime guy should be any less important than the big dollar guy. In this economy if you have a chance to be busy and make $5 you can not justify somebody tieing their time up to make $2. In my world a couple hundred is alot of money to, but I still can't buy a benz with it. The fact that you had so many fish on hold and still only consider your tank to getting partially stocked is the reason I asked for some pics, as I'm sure there are already some in there. The one time I did have a chance to see it yes it was clean but you had enough fish to stock a 300g tank. I notice your posts and those on craigslist weekly asking for fish donations are very similar and I think at some point you need to stop asking for and adding fish and start adding equiptment to keep up with the bioload. The main purpose of my post is to try and slow you down and realise some of the wrong steps you are taking. I'd like nothing more than to see you have long term success in the hobby.
