my tank is a bit warm

Without a heater in my 20L, the temp is 81.3 degrees. What's heating the water is my 225 gph mag pump in the tank.

I have some small RBTAs in there. Is this too warm for them? Will they eventually weaken and die? I'd like to keep the pump in the tank for simplicity and zero chance of developing leaks.

Just curious how warm your nem tank runs.

Well the average temperature in reefs is 82 degrees I keep mine at 84 and I have just about every type of anemone in there. Anemones tend to like the warmer temperatures in my experience but it really depends on what your animals are used to if you keep your tank at 81 and it's always that temp your animals will adjust to it and it would be normal for them so the more steady you keep your parameters the better if you want to cool your tank off just get a clip on fan they sell on Amazon that is for fish tanks they can lower the temp by like 4 degrees. Hope this helps :)

LiveAquaria says 72 to 78 is recommended for RBTAs so I was getting a bit worried about my temp. I'm glad to hear success stories like yours with warmer temperatures. Thanks! I've got AC at 76 in the house so tank temp should be very stable. My nems seem ok so far.

For got about your fan comment. I didn't realize a fan can cool a rank so much. I shall try that, it would be a much cheaper option than the solid state chillers I've been looking at.

I took off the chiller for my BTA nem tank. It runs from 75-80 winter time. 78-83 Cali summer, I've seen it gone up to 84, 85. No effects to the BTAs.

key is stable parameter. Don't let it swing 10 degrees a day

Good luck with you're nems! Got any pics and yeah chillers are a waste of time and money in my opinion unless you have a cold water tank glad I could help:)

Here's a FTS. I posted more pics in my other thread in the newbie forum.
