My TBS pics

I got part 1 of the package for my new 90g just over a week ago. It looks to have cycled nicely, with ammonia peaking at 0.25 ppm. Some of the sponges are dying off, but otherwise everything seems to be doing well. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Got the boxes home:

Rock in the box

This huge snail (about 3.5" long) had stowed away in one of the bags of sand.

There's a small mantis shrimp (I believe) in the middle of this pic, poking out of a hole in the rock. Going to have to start practicing my trap-making skills...

This gorilla crab was found in one of the boxes after the rock was removed- he now lives in the sump

I'm not sure what these are exactly, they appeared on the tank glass a few days after the shipment arrived- perhaps eggs of some kind?

If you did get a mantis or two I wouldn't bother making a trap, but rather just remove that rock and extract him using the syringe with cold seltzer water trick.

That snail is pretty, but be warned that it's a carnivore. It eats other snails. I think it's a Florida Conch, if I remember correctly. If you can stand buying more snails every few months, it's pretty cool!

is a snail eater....is also the Florida State Shell!!

I managed to feed it by hand today, using a piece of a sea scallop- so I'm going to try to keep it and see if I can keep it from consuming too many cleaner snails

I wouldn't take that chance. Perhaps putting him in the sump?
