My turquoise haddoni

I saw this at a LFS and I just had to have it. It was more expensive than a red haddoni, believe it or not. It has a dark base with turquoise tips and looks like the night sky filled with stars when inflated.

That color is great, as is the clowns in pic 2

I have never successfully kept a carpet. For my information from yall, what makes this look healthy. The coloration is not bleached , but the mouth looks open to me-or does it always look this way?

It shouldn't always look that way, and isn't "normal". But, given that the anemone was just added to the tank it isn't all that uncommon. THough mine that have settled in the quickest had their mouth tightly closed the whole time it was settling into the tank.

Thanks for all the kind comments...

The pictures were taken just hours after acclimation so the mouth was slightly open but that's normal. When purchased the anemone was very sticky and was attached to the bucket while I was drip acclimating it. It took a while to gently coax it to let go.

It was fully inflated this morning with a tightly closed mouth. Will post updated pics tonight.

Red haddonis in my LFS cost about $200 for a 5". My large red haddoni cost me $225 (normally $300 but there was a 25% sale). Of course, exceptional specimens will cost more. I've been seeing more red haddoni available (in SoCal) lately.

This one was originally $300 but I was able to persuade him to let it go for $250. Kinda high for a blue but the ones I've seen weren't as nice so I paid for it.

Beautiful anemone!

Is its foot attached to anything? In the pic, it doesn't look like the foot is buried. If it were mine, I'd have it up against the rocks, where it could hide its foot under them.

Thanks!

The foot is firmly attached to the bottom glass. I have a shallow sand bed of about an inch. I placed it in the middle of the tank to see if it would spread out or move. It seems to like where I placed it and has burrowed down to the glass.

Here are a couple more pics taken with lights out with flash.

It should have at least 4 inches of sand, not just 1 inch. In the wild these guys will retreat under the sand when alarmed. It is not natural to have only 1 inch for a haddoni, and I highly suggest that you put in at least several more inches around him.

Very pretty.

Maybe I have lost concept of money in this hobby but it seems like a great price at $250. It's an amazing specimen. It look healty that alone is tough to find.
