My Ultimate 150 Cube Build with many pics... Looking for experienced input

Wow Kieth! Go big or go home.. this looks awesome and its not even wet yet. Ill have to come see it in person once youre up and running. Your last tanks were phenomenal and im excited to see what you do with this. Very nice collection on the frag rack. Your lighting is out of control, ill have to look into those T5 retros... I really like them.

Update 12-22-12

Thanks Romaro!

So.... works killing me and everything has been going at snails pace. Here is where i'm at now.

I decided to go with a thin rock wall on the back and will have 3 Tunze 6055's inside the Tunze Rocks. Even though I had thought about leaving channels for the cords of course I forgot once I started dealing with the silicone. I'll have to figure that out...

I'll have a couple rock formations that come out to middle of tank from the back wall and at least 1 mid height island.

This is the light for refugium that I built from leftover stunners. It also has the inline dimmer so I can control output.

You can see the top of the fuge light in this pic which is made from 1/4" white acrylic. Also enclosed the Fuge with white acrylic pieces to control light spill.

Here is the finished rock wall minus the Tunze Rocks. The center opening in the rocks will be a shadow box mounted outside on the back of the tank with an LED setup, Possibly the Simu-L from GHL which will be controllable and has Blue-White-Red Leds.

And finally exactly where I am at the moment.... Wiring Hell and then up next is Plumbing Hell. Hopefully I can get through this by end of Christmas Day. I'd like to get some water in it and get the frags out of the garage tank.

Looks like an awesome setup! I'd go with a lumatek switchable ballast from 250 w to 400 so u can upgrade the bulb when tank gets packed! I run the lumen max elites w radiums, just upped them to 400 watters tho! Love em cool build!

Tagged for further updates with pictures of course... :).

I have no SW experience but planning and doing lots of research before I jump face first into a 300g build. I always wondered with most members doing 10-20% water changes why the need for such large water storage containers... I must be missing somthing here. Can you explain to me why the need for 450g of storage. How much evaporation are you expecting and how big of water changes.

Exactly what I did, I went with the Galaxy 400w switchable so I can run 250w or HQI or 400w. I have the halide about 16" or so off the water so just in case I'm in need of a little more punch through I now have it with the flick of a switch an a new bulb screwed in.

Thanks!

I have an auto water change set up directly run from tanks through ceiling and down wall to Litermeter 3 and also a topoff unit. I'm not a big fan of making saltwater all the time so if I do 3-4 gallons a day then that will avg 120-130 gallons a month so I should get about 6 weeks between making saltwater. The 2nd RO tank is for time savings so I can quickly ( about 4 min) move the 200gal of RO with a Reeflo pump to the saltwater tank when it gets near to empty. Making RO would take me about 1.5 days then mixing another 24-48 hours so its really just about time savings and keeping the water changes going without much delay.

Another reason of course is in case of emergency I could make water quick...

-(2) Profilux 4 pump dosers running Calcium, Alk, Mag, Vinegar, Kalk night dosing, Fauna Marin MinS and Fauna Marin Ultra Organic.

So I'm using 7 of the 8

I have the same tank (bought used) I am just getting ready to set up. I too would love to see how this has progressed.

Cleared inbox, yes it is slow going right now as I'm working from 8am til midnight almost every day. It's mind numbing ... I tried to see if there was someone that know GHL Profiluxes well around Jacksonville but doesn't seem like it. I was gonna hire someone to finish up some plumbing and wiring etc...

I try to get a little done each weekend so I'll post pics after this weekend.

Thanks everyone!

I just ordered a 150 cube like and am considering the Crystal 30 Elite sump as well, now that it's in action on your tank... What are your thoughts/feelings?

So it's been forever and I continued working on it little by little. Plumbing was definitely a good bit of work. put unions everywhere I could... Just added fresh RO to the tank for a cleansing and amazingly no leaks anywhere. Took me a while to cover the starboard with silicone and sand to give a nicer look to a bare bottom. I'm still going to add a very thin layer of sand to soften it up. So here are some pics of water.

Has anyone had a really good experience with a new tank setup with no hair algae growth? if so what was your techniques ?
