You may (or may not) of noticed with some of the videos that I need to move the camera in order to catch the action during filming, (more so with the larger smashers being quite free roaming and fearless forsaking the safety of there burrows to confront the intruder....The Juggernaut).
It got me thinking about how I can best move my camera without....moving my camera lol I know it sounds weird (maybe) but what instantly popped into my mind was Hollywood movies / professional movie making in general....
homemade DIY amateur version... =) The picture speaks for itself...
Although the 'professional' one looks rather complicated all I am essentially creating (which is what is so easy about it all) is a small track using thick gauge flat bar as the tracks then to add weight, stability and overall parallel tracks, a good solid frame of thick gauge square cuts (like my stands frames but thicker), to top the base frame off and ensure I get longer life (something I should of and could of done with the stands... way to late now lol)....Powder coat it to prevent rust, even though my stands are painted, I would of prefered to of powder coated them way more neat and tidy + way easier...on me =D.
Then all I do is get some good stainless/gal wheels, nothing small and hard something big & soft that rolls over tiny flaws, along with a piece of plate steel that I will have dipped in gal, a sheet of Rubber beneath the entire frame base and a sheet of rubber on top of the gal flat plate.
Homemade Hollywood Motion Camera Cart & Track!
None of it is beyond the simplest work for a steel warehouse, very cheap mind you, the rubber is on the floor laying about, the steel is scrap too and as for the gal dipping well I can just put it in with the large tonnage loads that we do same goes for powder coating....kinda kicking myself over the whole not getting my stands powder coated though ='[
