wow bad idea, ur right under a road and its right off the shore.

Hasn't caused a problem in 20 years. That water is surging in the inlet from directly out of the Gulfstream, over the reef and into my tank. My coral jumps to life when they get a whiff of the phytoplankton. The fish also seem to enjoy whatever treat is in there.

Good call, that's a pretty strong current there. I'm sure your tank is loving it.

I'm sure its not tds free but he did catch the incoming tide. do you have any algae growth? I'd like to see some tank shots.

I used NSW in Santa Barbara and in Maui Hawaii for my tanks with great success, granted they both were up for less than a year.( moved ) but the fish and corals did seam to like it.

FYI try the aquarium alot of the time they will let you use there NSW inlet that has a really big sand filter on it.

Here is a full tank shot. I collect 525 gallons at a time. Tank is 265 with 200 gallons of sump. I have a 250 storage tank outside I keep full for any problems that might come up.

I have tested it a few times and it is always measures spot on for everything with no nitrates or phosphates. I do not even test the tank or have a skimmer. I just change 80% of the water every week or two and it just hums along. I do not think I would have one if I had to mix salt.

Awesome! I can totally back you up by saying that is good water! If anyone has ever been to any canal when the tide goes in or out it's crazy. Here in Florida my hubby and I used to fish at Sebastian Inlet and that tide is crazy coming in. Awesome tank too! What size is it?

You should switch salt to IO or reef crystals because what you are using is not working.

Just kidding your tank looks great!:inlove:

I would love to try nsw. I live in Tampa, but the water doesn't look quite that clean. Maybe out at the beaches with an incoming tide?

Man I am very envious of your ability to not only collect NSW but you collect 500G plus at a clip! :O Your tank is thriving on it too! Great job!

Wow!! Anyone know if this is possible anywhere Volusia county coast, heck I wouldn't need that much either I would probably start a tank 50/50 and then do water changes with NSW. Last good tank deal I had to pass up (no disposable $$ yet) was a 90 AGA so 5 Home Depot buckets X2 trips of 25min one way would be very doable.
