My Zoa Garden

What are your fastest growing sps?

Green and red Seratipora , the green is aqua culture, the red is wild collected.
The hammers are growing nicely too.
For about 6 months I was not feeding the tank regularly, relying on the light as the source of energy for the coral. I have started feeding again in the last 3 months. I think growth is speeding up since regular feeds are happening.
Getting to know how different chemical elements affect each coral was why I stopped feeding. The zeovit method taught me how to look for the signs of deficiencys. I use a combination of zeo products and other brands.

I took my zeovit reactor off line ages ago , was over buying zeolite and pumping the reactor. I don't use Rowa either.
In my sump I have filter wool, skimmer, calc reactor , heater, return pump, ATO float and a small bag of activated carbon.

For phosphate reduction I use a liquid phosphate binder :)

The drawing shows the last chamber where the return pump sits as having a gap under.
This is not the case.... The water needs to flow over the glass to the return. I put my ATO float in this last chamber with the return pump.
The other change I would make is the first chamber entry glass is show flush with the rim, I would have that finish 2 inches below the rim for protection against flooding.
Please note drilling the glass will require checking actual bulkhead sizes before going ahead.

what kind of care do you do daily? weekly? etc?

Weekly 30 liter water change with RODI water and Red Sea Coral Pro salt.
Clean glass weekly. Go over glass monthly with blade.
Got my weekly water changes to say 20 mins of fluffing about, monthly service takes about 2 hours.
Occasionally it would stretch water changes to a fortnight.
One cap zeovit B balance and K balance every 3 weeks.
One eye dropper full Zeo Bac per month , two droppers Zeo Start 3 with the Bac.
Get the Bac and Start 3 out when the film on the glass grows a bit too quickly.
Good squirt of iodide every now and then. Same goes for liquid phos binder.
Change the handful activated charchol say 6 weeks.
I think it's the water changes that are most important.

agreed...I think water changes are KEY to a great reef tank. Thanks for all of the info. I am in LOVE with this tank :)

Do you have a test for each of the things you dose? And what let you know that you should dose?

Yes, I have test kits for everything , I refer to the Zeovit manual for help regarding colouring SPS.
Lol, I make my dosing up , using the manufacturer dosing as a guide.
I don't have time to keep my tank on a regular daily zeovit program like some of the advanced reefers in the SPS section.
What I do know is the zeo stuff is really concentrated high quality that has big effect on the tank. It takes practice to get to know the signs.
I think observation is sometimes better than a test kit.

Stay tuned ... I picked up some lovely pastel zoas as a treat.
Going to be nearly impossible to find a spot for them, might pull out that rampant green star polyp mat next to the blue SPS.

Went a little crazy and stocked my tank with some wrasse a few weeks ago.
There are four very small Anampses Lennardi cruising around my reef now.
