died, rtnd last night, after 2 months of growing and doing fine, not sure the cause, I think return nozzle may have blasted it. I tried fragging but all pieced rtns too, was strange my oregon tort and atlantis tort surrounding it are doing fine, full pe.

not sure anyone else have trouble with myagi?

Was it wild or tank raised? I have 3 small colonies that were tank raised and have had them all for close to 3 yrs. No problem yet. Fingers crossed.

Sometimes acros RTN and we never really know the reason. I'm sure you'll find another.

I purchased a large colony of it and haven't had any issues. The growth is very unique compared to other torts though.

Anyone have some pics of their little preciouses? I have one that seems to be stuck in the beige/brown phase with no hope in sight. :T

Are you refering to a Tort or a coral named preciouses? if a Tort then I have a few in my Gallery.

David, I see that you're in LI. If you're ever out in Manhattan during the weekdays and want a frag of my Miyagi, just drop me a pm. It was sold to me browned out and NOW.... it's just a lighter shade of brown. Maybe you'll have better luck than me.

The one I have grows like a tort but looks more like a partial table almost. Really unique. It came from a 20K tank and I'm now trying to bring the color back out of it under 10K's. Starting to see a nice change. I'll take a pic tommorrow.

thanks everyone

thanks everyone

Thanks man yes I will definately add it to a wish list of things I want to do.

Yea mine was purple tipped, and very nicely colored, started with typical rtning, just the base then I tried fragging and no luck. Unsure the cause, when more delicate species reside on the same rock and nps there.

znut Reefer Yea it was captive raised, from fishndoc (Chris) very reputable seller on here, and all of his other corals doing awesome, unsure why this died.

I think getting my tank more stable is the key, perhaps I let temps get too high, close to 83 on a few days, even with a/c on. Who knows, but everything else is growing doing fine.

I have one issue with my tank, I can never seem to find the right flow rates for my corals, even though I have the Borneman book on corals, its really tough figuring out which coral wants more flow or less, etc.. along with true pe extension. Most of my corals are happy I would say, and growing calc and alk are near perfect and steady. I dose kalk in evenings. I think getting a kalk reactor and cal reactor will be the best new purchase for me. Either way I wonder is there a site or a list of sps particular corals and their flow demands??

Right now I run a Quiet One HH4400 on return, a Tunze 6060, 1 Seio 1100, 1 Seio 820, and a Rio 2100 in my 55.

more important than how much flow is that it is not laminar flow. i judge how much flow by the PE i get from my sps. in my frag tank i can move them around and find the ideal spot, where the PE is the greatest, most of the torts like a good deal of very turbulent flow, similar to millis and stags. really i think all sps like high turbulent flow, since i am quite sure that a book will say low to moderate flow, in reference to the ocean, when in our tank super high turbulent flow would be considered low to moderate ocean flow.
