mystery algae or bacteria ID?

This mystery stuff seems to grow on the tops of my rock but not on the sides or underneath areas. I have a BB and it is on the floor as well. It doesn't grow on anything "living" such as corals. All my parms are in check and it seemed to have appeared around the same time that I removed my aragonite and the addition of (2) more T5 bulbs which was done a few months ago.
I scrubbed the rocks two weeks ago and it has reappeared. It can't be just blown off with a PH but it scrubs off easily. The tank has been up for over two years. For flow, I have a Vortech at 90% throttle and (2) modded Tunze 6025 which put out ~1200gph each. My T5's are only two months old.

Looks more like fungus to me....If you have access to a microscope, put some on a slide and see if you can see some long, thin filaments; then you know it is a fungi.

Snails have eaten some of it but they stay away from it for the mostpart.
I am a week or two away from switching from T5's to MH's and I suspect that I'll see a difference. Good or bad, who knows but we'll see.

ew.

never seen that before.

have u noticed if anything has been munching on it?

I thought it looks like bryopsis, which is a bacteria. I believe it is also photosythetic, so adding MHs may make it much worse.

Let us know how that goes when you switch to MH. I have a similar "algae" in my tank. Been trying to beat it for a year.

I think it has to do with my lighting. I replaced (4) 1 yr old T5 bulbs AND added (2) more to the mix. Not only did I replace the original (4) but I also used different types.
What's weird is if a snail eats a section of it, it doesn't grow back. I may keep the lights off for (3) days and see what happens

Sorry, bryopsis is not a bacteria, it's algae.
