Just looking for some input.65 gallon sps tank.this would be my first wrasse .was thinking of flashers too but I already have the following
2 ocellaris
Yellow assessor
Watchman goby
Red hawk
Dragonet
Also have 4 blue reef chromis that I put in to cycle but was thinking of removing at least two.

A wrasse of any type would give the dragonette some competition for food.

Also with the chromis and not including the wrasse...you are meeting if not exceeding your bioload

Any shrimp? The mystery might make it difficult to add more wrasses later, but the biggest issue is inverts.

I had a mystery wrasse in my tank for 3 years before the tank caught on fire a few weeks ago. He was for the most part a model citizen, and was one of the first fish in the tank. He never bothered any of the shrimp, but when I added a trio of flame wrasses he picked on the smallest one for a bit, but never did any harm.

My mystery hunts snails for sport, not sure if he eats them. Also I notice that I see zero pods with it in the tank. I want to get it out, but I can hardly even take a picture of it...

The red hawk is going to take care of the shrimp anyway. I haven't heard many good things about mystery wrasses. Someone in my craigslist area has posted several times trying to find someone to buy his.

that would be me! Mine eats shrimp. I've never seen him eat them but I dont have them any more. I would keep him but I have about 5 aptasia and want to get it under control. Mine is actually pretty wimpy outside of shrimp. He gets bullied by a flame angel, a bicolor blenny and a coris wrasse.

HAHA! I bet it's weird reading about yourself on the internet. It was a great looking fish btw.

I've had a Mystery Wrasse for about a year, and haven't seen it touch a snail or hermit.
But I will say I've seen him eat 1 cleaner shrimp, and he's the prime suspect in an additional cleaner shrimp murder.

The first I assumed, but I got another cleaner. I let him go into the tank, and within 5 seconds the Mystery raced up to meet the shrimp and started eating it...
So, no shrimp in my tank
