Mystikal's Tank Journal

Nice! White or order. Painting will take a while and may introduce some unwanted chemicals / fumes into the water?

Order the colored pvc. So much easier in the long run.

Update, added the Vectra and calibrated the bad boy...added two mp10s on the rear glass and the split return nozzle

Currently the Vectra is plumbed with Sch80 that I found locally. Think I'll keep the gray Sch80 but will add a manifold. The Sch80 that I used are screwed on, with plumbers tape. As of right now, no leaks and it's flowing.

I installed the Nyos 120 skimmer and it's super pretty.

As the days go by, I'll slowly adjust the skimmer to specifics. It's sitting in 8" of water, so the height is perfect. I haven't messed with a skimmer like this, so I'm learning about the muffler/air flow/height etc. My previous ghost skimmer had one adjustment lol. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I did purchase lights for the reefer, however I want to hang them... so I'm waiting to get the hanging kit and then I'll be in business. Hopefully by the end of the week, I'll start transitioning. I'm a bit afraid but I'll start with my LPS and maybe wait a bit to add in the SPS. As for livestock, I still have the wrasse in the sump, and he is eating and roaming.

Nice! Things are rolling along. Let me know how you make out with the nyos...

Looks good. Is that a brass/metal pipe you have on the reefer pipe?

I wouldn't want anything like that close to my tank.

Unfortunately you are right...stupid mistake...hopefully I didn't screw up a new start already. I'll be changing out the fittings tonight, my Sch80 fittings are suppose to be here today. Probably run some polyfilter and monitor the tank.

Also, skimmer is running great! No issues, except another mistake I made, I forgot to place the wrasse in the display tank.... well you could only guess what happen to him this morning.

Did the sixline get jammed on the skimmer? Ouch

Here's the updated Sch 80:
Got these from another lowes in Orlando. The one closes to me only carried 3/4"-1 1/2". I wanted to keep the Sch80 to 1/2" to allow me to install a manifold. I didn't glue all of the pieces, just the union pieces because they didn't have any other option. This would allow me to remove and adjust the pipe in the future with ease. Just used plumbing tape on the treads and hand tighten them together for a snug fit.

Built my own for less than $30 including purchasing the Radion hanging kit.

Sprayed the C channel black to match the Radions, and I'm loving it [emoji7]

Ended up supporting the ceiling with 2x4s so I can sleep at night.

So far it's coming along. Gotta purchase some cement, glue, and some other minerals.

Check out this skimmate

Also swapped out a MR1 for this Reactor, not sure if this is what I wanted. Since I was planning on hard plumbing everything, but I'll play around with it and see what I can do. Most likely I'll be running phos & carbon.

Finally transferred everything over to the reefer. All of my live rock with the exception of 15lbs fit in the tank and the sump.
Got a nice Caribbean blue tang and another six line wrasse. They are both doing great, and already coming out for food.

Also added my mp10 to the tank. Currently running 3 but as soon as I get my fourth back from Ecotech I will add it. 2 on the rear and 2 on the sides.

After I placed all my live stock and live rock my nyos filled up almost all of the skimmate cup, and is working great!

The tank is literally quiet, gotta walk by to make sure it's working lol.

Have just had a read through, and really like what you've done with the new tank - It looks fantastic now that you've transferred over.

Given I'm looking to set up a 75G system with pretty close to the same lighting (Radions), a Vectra pump and 2 MP10s/1 MP40, (and now that I've seen it probably a Nyos skimmer), I think I'll be watching how your system progresses closely. Also nice to hear that this sort of setup is close to silent ;).

Appreciate the love! I really like the Mp10s hey provide a wide range of coverage for the overall tank.

Here are some quick pics

Nice Tank and Nice pictures.

Thanks!

Well this weekend is off to a great start!
Started and did most of my manifold for the tank. So far it's doing great, and came out how I want it. Hopefully by this weekend I can get it completed. The next valve is for the refugium...once I complete that, I'll attach the proper Sch80 and be rolling!

Right now, I don't see any issues with leaks or noise. I did hard plumb the Vectra to the reefers return pipe...however it is removable. I found that a 3/4 male Sch80 with some plumbers tape done the job. I also added some unions in case I needed to remove and go back to stock.

Haven't done any tests except salinity...I should at least check my calcium and alk levels asap.

Stay tuned!!!

Tanks looking great, loving the sump work (lashed out and bought a couple of MP40QDs by the way ;)).

Not sure its intentional, but I am wondering from a filtration point of view if you are looking to get copepods/fauna out of that fuge for your aquatic residents. As it stands it looks like you are filter bagging your outgoing from that part of the system, which means you are probably losing out on a lot of this potential. Just something to think about in terms of the outgoing flow.

Thanks appreciate it! I hope you got at least two MP40s...you need some flow in that tank [emoji1419]

Yea the filter bag was to pick up the detritus from the live rock rubble. I ended up breaking several pieces to make rubble and it created a mess, so I used it as a temp filtration for the fuge. It's been removed!

Here's some more pictures of the Fuge...I drilled it and it came out good!
Just adjusting the flow.
