Myth #14 and disinformation

Reefer
It has been suggested that such bubbles represent an irritation to fish, corals and other invertebrates and that they should be avoided.

I believe you've overstepped yourself on this generalization. I have seen multiple references in the scientific literature supporting the idea that small bubbles are a stressor to fish. Fish specifically adapted to a reef crest might be an exception (nature of the beast), but most fishes are susceptible to stress changes such as cortisol level increases, increased flashing, and general distress as noted by increased breathing rates during such times.

I don't have any references in front of me at the moment, but they are in the aquaculture literature.

I'm in process on submitting a chapter to an Aquatic Tox book. It'll have to wait until I'm done with this current project.... grad school is alot more important atm.
