N/P reducing pellets (solid vodka dosing)

I pushed a piece of window screen up into the bottle, with some screen still hanging outside the bottle, then folded it down over the threads and screwed the cap on. To mount the pump an undersized hole was drilled in the cap, and the pump friction fits in. It is really tight. It could be glued in too. Works like a charm.

Is that the old lady's pantyhose laying on the floor in that first pic?

I am excited to be trying this out! Thanks so making such an informative thread.
I read the bacteria can clog up the sponges in media reactors so I got some plastic canvas today and cut it into shape to use instead of the sponges:

My pellets should be arriving today or tomorrow. :)

Great idea! That should work nicely as long as the material holds up. The hole size looks ideal from what I can tell.

HEHE, no it's not. I don't need that kind of trouble in my life. Panty hose might work though. It might be too fine to let larger chunks of mulm through. Have you built one DJ?

I'm planning on getting some more pellets and need a bigger reactor, a 2L.

Where did you get the plastic canvas? I'm using a piece of a mesh bag in the bottom of my Zeo reactor as the holes are large enough for the pellets to slip through. The mesh tends to lift around the edges. . .I need something more rigid.

:D

OK, I just figured you were pulling out all the stops with the DIY thing. When I get started on a project I turn the house inside out looking for possible 'materials for use'. My work area often looks like a bomb went off b4 cleanup. I haven't built one yet. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to configure it in my sump. Yea, 2L was what I was planning on using, too. I don't have much space with my moded Aqua C in there.

Yes catastrofe, I just got it in the crafts section at walmart. I think people use it for cross stitching or something similar.

If you are running GAC as well and would like to connect the pellets and GAC reactors in series, what's the more effective way to run the pellets, before of after GAC? Does it matter?

how vigorously are your pellets tumbling in your reactor?
I have the pump at maximum and the pellets seem to settle after awhile regardless. Then they're just sort of sloshing around. Is that going to be a problem?
Maybe I need a bigger pump...

been using bps since jan, i've also been trying vingear dosing, one thing i can say about the biopellets is that it defeated cyano for me, noticed it instantly within 2 weeks, for that its worth the price on my small tank of 80 gallons but if i had a larger tank donnt know if i would justify the cost as its pretty expensive, i'm running 500 mls, other then the cyano i have not noticed anything else but i run a pretty clean tank heres a pic before bio pellets last month sorry for the bad picture but t5s really wash out the colors on my camera, ill post an after pic tomorrow when i take a pic
