i used a 1200 without any issues. But people suggest a different canister because the input/output may not handle it.

Currently using a NextReef tall canister and usinga Rio 1700...which isn't cutting it....

Hi

Has anybody been in contact with JP ten Klooster recently?
Was the Hong Kong issue sorted out?.

Thanks

This is not just a Hong Kong issue as it also involved Canada and some European countries. But some reefers from HK said the replacement program, according to their distributor, won't be underway until sometime this month or June.

well...after checking my nitrates just now...they have gone UP. I was planning on waiting till my next paycheck to get a bigger pump...but apparently i need it sooner than that. Also I will be doing a large water change again (20 g) and hopefully the NP BP's will help to keep the trates "down" till a bigger pump can start to utilize them better and maybe even reduce the NO3 in my tank.

wish me luck till then...my two new SPS are starting to bleach...and tissue is slothing off...

Dave I assume you are using 500ML of pellets on a 60G system? Are all the pellets in constant motion?

I hope to have my nextreef reactor ( with the new 5/8 barb fitting) and 1000ml pellets tomorrow. Since I've been reading everyone is having flow problem especially upping the pellets pass 500ml I just went ahead and ordered it with the Tunze pump rated at 600+ gph. Also would like to thank Aquarium Specialty for the execellent service.

the other thing I feel stupid about is doing water changes. It seems hard to tell if the pellets are working if I keep removing nitrates manually. I would like to see them working FIRST, then get back to my normal routine of tank husbandry. Has anyone one noticed a problem by doing too many water changes?

How many W/C do you do then ?
I`ll do like 5 % weekly or sometimes 10 % every 2 weeks , but i never encountered nitrates higher then 2 ppm (before the bp`s) , now i don`t measure any nitrates or phosphates. :)

water changes are good , when the water has the same temprature and composition (alkanity , calcuim, magnesium , ph ...).
If it doesn`t it can be worse to do a W/C ,due to stress from radical changes.

greetingzz tntneon :)

Any news on JP's whereabouts?. I need to get in touch with him, but he hasn't answered emails which is unusual.

I have had faulty ones in UK...

My nitrates were at 15 ppm two weeks inot using the pellets and now there at 8ppm my return is going straight into my skimmer is this the best way??

Your reactor goes directly into your skimmer. This would cause the bacteria that escape the reactor to be skimmed out, which is a good thing. Sounds like this is working for you. :)

Thanks for the feed back i went trough the mill with these pellets will post my full experiance tomorrow

Well here it goes my tank is approx 750l so i started of with three quarter of a 1000m bag after 3 days you could not see into the tank there was that much bacteria in the water my ph droped down to 7.5 i lost 5 sps corals as a result my phosphate level went trough the roof cause the drop in ph killed 4 of my snails witch were quite large
so i made some adjustments i put a large air stone into the sump and ran the return directly into the skimmer the water is crystal clear now ph is back up to 8.1 phosphate is still high so iam using row phous as well
