I have the NextReef standard with 1.5 L of pellets using a Mag 3 pump. The reactor is full but still getting good tumbleing.

I have the Nextreef Standard with 1 L of pellets using a mag 3 pump and all of the pellets just go to the top - not really much tumbling.
Maybe I'll try a ball valve to turn the mag 3 down or add more pellets?

I am about to take the plunge and try these as well. BUT (and I have not read all the pages)...I have not seen a recent answer to the question: does anyone feed the skimmer directly with the effluent from the Biopellets?
That would be the optimal setup

No, only not enough flow. After about 10days into it, the pellets are not tumbling enough for my comfort. I think as the bacteria grow on the pellets, there's more friction between the pellets causing them not to tumble.

is there too much flow ?

anyone running these NP bio pellets on a 50g display (or something close to it)? I have about 10-15g of volume in my sump so approximately 65g total volume.. I was thinking about doing the TLF 150 reactor with 500ml of pellets. What pump would be ideal? Would a MJ900 work well (I think it's about 225gph). Subscribing, very interesting...

I have another 58 g reef with a 20 g sump I am running 500 ml in a Two Little Fishes reactor driven with a MaxiJet1200. I like the results.

Couple people on this page and I have some stuff in common...

My tank is a 70 display with a 20H sump. I just added the BP today in a TLF phosban reactor which is fed by a MJ1200. The effluent from the reactor directly feeds my external skimmer.

I only added about 1/4 - 1/3 of the pellets to start out. Jut want to see what the reaction is before I add all 500mL.

My tank is stocked with SPS, LPS, clams and lots of softies.

My skimmer is internal so should I have the exit water from the reactor going into the skimmer section of my sump? Where's the best spot to pull from?

Thanks :)

Guys,

You need to check out the Vetex reactor for the Pellets. It's unbelievable. I was running the Little Fishies 150 but I wasn't happy with the flow control and I just didn't the connections.
Also... I'm running every thing off of one pump. 2 returns and this beauty reactor. It works perfectly! In fact I still had to dial the returns and the reactor. I have enough juice in the return pump to power another small reactor for Rowa Phos.

(never used a reactor before) can anyone answer this question?

I just place my reactor output about an inch from the skimmer inlet in the sump. It works well for me. So far I have no bacterial bloom. My tank water is crystal clear, the best clarity that I have ever seen. I started my BP on 3/23/10 using 500ml in a NextReef MR1 reactor.

form the aswers I've gathered from here...as well as from the biopellet website, YES, the effluent from the pellets should go to your skimmer next. So if it's from a pump that sits in the sump, I would run the effluent water from your pellets into the area where your skimmer is. And hopefully it will skim a good portion of the effluent water and aid in reducing N/P by skimming it away.

Does it matter where the reactor input comes from (thinking about pulling from the refugium)? I'm kind of torn on the MJ1200 OR MJ900 pump for the TLF 150. I'll probably end up with the 1200, can always dial it down if needed.

Many people reported their skimmer stopped working after they started on BP. Does anyone have any possible explanation to that?
