BTW, I most likely will be getting the same lighting set-up. I recommended the single 250 to a buddy and it's definitely the coolest and 'coolest' (temp. wise) unit I have ever come across.

have u put any pics in the large reef tank section?
im sure it would b appreciated by all, good luck.

Cheers.

very nice Onyx Clowns.... any other fish beside the clowns?
So far that's it besides some chromis. I'll be adding more fish next week. I don't want to add too many fish at one time since my tank is so new.

I highly recommend these lights too. You are right on temp. My chiller has not turned on yet. My house is kept at 75 deg. and my tank temp is constant at 78. There are no fans on these fixture, all the heat rises to the top through the vent. Could be b/c of my pumps also. Eheim and Dart run super cool and quite.

I'll just keep it here unless mods move it. I'll be glad to answer anymore questions.

Thanks,

James

Is there any glass on the bottom of the aquarium or is it just a piece of PVC? What made you decide to have a PVC bottom instead of a traditional glass one? Is it stronger, lighter, cheaper???

Looks great!

No I'm not going w/ glass jayo, the bottom plate is type I sch. 80 pvc w/ all holes counter sunk for my close loop and my overflow.

It's definitely stronger b/c I'm going to borrow a quote from a fellow reefer from MARSH. "tedu" explained the open top no brace tank theory. I hope you don't mind tedu for quoting you?

"Highest concentration of forces in a tank are going to be on the bottom / lower sides as opposed to the top. (Weight of water, hydrostatic pressure, etc).
Much of the purpose of bracing on standard tanks is to prevent bowing of the glass.

Contruction method deals with most of this.
The bottom is PVC (i.e. plastic) and has a groove routed in it for the glass."

Man that is sweet. Where did you get that light?

Thanks!
Mike
Mike I got the lights from Aquarium Obsessed they are one of the sponsors here in RC.

Very classy James. Where did you order your dragons from please?

Charles
Thanks Charles, originally I ordered it from AO as well, but b/c of the delay in shipment from Europe, I couldn't wait anymore. I went w/ Eheim 1260 for return and Reflo Dart for my CL. I couldn't be happier.

Please feel free to ask more questions.

Stunning tank. I'm a big fan of open tops and yours with no brace is the best of open tops. Very nice. I'm looking forward to more pictures.

Very, very, very well done.
that tank must have been pretty heavy w/the 3/4" glass. I dont really understand the pvc bottom....did they just silicone the glass to the pvc bottom?
I love the braceless extremely clean tank look. you also went powerheadLESS. The closed loop is well hidden. Also love the lighting, never seen/heard of it before until now.
I really hope you keep the black back and overflow clean.
also, do you think you can post some picks inside the stand of your equipment? please.

thank you

Tank looks sweet, the starphire looks clear.

I would suggest to paint or replace the blue return nozzles to black, so it could blend it with the black background & overflow.

Equiptment pics pls.

Updated pictures. Few fish and corals added this week. Most corals are from Mike -- Thecaptivereef.com
