Acropora sp. is the best I can come up with.

Yeah, it is too small to tell the species.

As for tri-colour, there are at least three species with this colour morph, which is quite common. I have an A. valida, but I often see an A. nana and another where I am unsure of the species. Could be A. appressa.

Sounds like the mucous, which slimes off of corals as part of their protective and respiratory systems. This is completely normal and is genearlly strongest when a coral is new or recently disturbed (touched).
