So I stopped by my LFS today because it was new fish day and the had what they were calling "nano clownfish" I've never heard of these before are they a real type of clown? They looked like baby ocellaris could that be all they were?

Most likely, yes. I read something recently though about ORA having clowns with birth defects that made them smaller than regular clowns. From what I believe they get one or two in every batch of babies they breed and since they aren't up to breed standards they normally give them away for free. If your LFS has a ton of them, and they don't work with ORA, I would bet they are just regular baby clowns.

I would guess that too. Even the stumpy ora clowns get close to normal size, just a little smaller. At least from what I've read, just passing on info.

Sea and reef has them labeled that way on their wholesale listing, but I believe by the discription (listed as about 3/4 inch) it's just a very young clown, ie. smaller than their small clowns that they offer listed at 1 1/4 inch. Cheaper price too, so if you really want to watch your fish grow but dont want to raise it from a fry, go ahead, but it's a normal ocellaris.
