Nano-filter

I have a reefpack 200 and the protien skimmer is absolutley awesome, after a few weeks of adjustments it pulls out the darkest coffee gunk I have ever seen,

but the nano-filter, I have found 2 fish in there and I have the snail protector installed, the fish seems to know how to get past the edges it seems...

I don't really have a solution except try not running it so deep or try placing some sort of screen on the grate but I haven't heard of this happening before.

Both the the fish that got past the guard were small, I love everything about this system but the snail guard need some redesigning....

I don't want you to take this as me being combative but the 3166 and 3167 use the same intake and have since 1981 and I have not seen this before. It is really odd, what kind of fish were they? FWIW, I use a 3167 in a plant tank with several cardinal tetras and it hasn't happened yet in 5 years. In all honesty, it will solve itself as the fish will grow and algae will grow on the screen and restrict it further so it isn't a big deal but it is puzzling.
