Nano of The Month - Nov. Entries Needed

The moderator told me to give him a list of some nano's to look at so I am going to write him again and give him the links to all your guys nano's. They are extremely beautiful. Genix your colors are so beautiful in that tank. It's amazing. Everyone tells us your tank specs??? Please? Supplements, water changes, feedings, etc? I'm sure we'd all love to know. Are you sure this is unofficial? I will post again to them.

Very nice tanks, everyone! My SPS reside elsewhere, but my nano has a "theme" of its own. Hope you enjoy.

I think we have a winner. Awsome!

Thanks for all the compliments, but honestly, I've seen other tanks on this thread which I consider outstanding in their own right. Most of those corals were not doing so well in my intensely-lit SPS tank, and really took off when moved to the nano under 130 W of PC lighting. All were grown from a few polyp frags. Unfortunately, the one SPS I tried in this tank, the orange monti digitata lower right, is taking over in spite of the lower light levels. Let's see some more nanos!

I definately vote for this one!!!:eek1: Amazing job:beer:

My vote is with Cee's! Wow! That is gorgeous! What size tank is that? Doe you have any occupants in the tank? Do you have a thread for it?

Nope, no thread, I'm pretty low profile. It's a 24 gallon Aquapod upgraded with 2 additional 36 W PCs, one pure actinic and one 50/50. I had to add additional fans to keep up with the heat load, since I use the stock lid. One fan blows directly onto the water (cut through the clear cover with the intake on the "stock" grate) and the other directs air to the front and out through some holes I added in the front. I have a high fin goby with his Randall's pistol shrimp and a purple firefish in there. I run a limewood airstone in the back chamber which acts as a makeshift skimmer but is really there to add oxygen to the water to keep it at saturated levels. Probably like 20 different Acans of various sizes and locales, something like 5 micromussas, a number of zoanthids, palythoas, dendrophyllia, goniopora, montistrea, porites, and a montipora. I "dose" sodium bicarbonate (1 cup/5 gallons Randy's receipe) with the makeup water (about 1/2 gallon a day) and CaCl about once a week. Weekly water changes of about 5 gallons and that's about it. It's been established for about 1 year.

Mark, I like the zoanthid tank. Ours was originally going to be the same, but my Acans took over my wife's desires. Oh well, there's always more glass boxes out there...

Thanks cee, great tank you have there. I love acans. I have a 37 Oceanic laying around waiting to be setup. My plan is to import the zoa's from my existing JBJ 12 gallon and all the new corals will be acans. Thanks for the pics, gave me lots of ideas.

I forgot to add this to my post:
I dont dose anything, its just a zoa tank and they only want water changes. My tank is a 4.24 modded Nanocustoms JBJ 12 gallon. Stock pump replaced with a MJ 900 and an additional MJ 600 in chamber 1. I have NONE of heat problems that I keep reading about, tank tops out at 80.5 degrees, I owe this to Nanocustoms thoughtful design changes. I have almost zero evaporartion and most weeks I dont need to add any top off water. People keep telling me that a airtight tank is bad, but mine is thriving and I love the LOW maintenance. The pic is rather old and since then I dont have any rock showing at all...its covered with zoa's, they are starting to grow up the back wall now.

I am a big fan of the KISS principal with nano tanks. I dont dose, dont test, dont skim, no refug, dont do anything but a 20% water change every Sunday. Several of the most impressive nanos I have seen use this principal, so I decided I should and it is working nicely for me. With LPS or SPS, I am sure I would have to change my no-dose principal.

no the clowns totally avoid it, they both host the giant thing of polyps on the left side of the tank...

the lighting is the Nanocustoms 3.36....a 50/50, an actintic, and a 10,000 bulb...
