anyone using a nano skimmer. my new nano tank apparently is going to need one, and I was looking for some advice on what works and/or recommendations. Thanks

Norman I bought one of those little hang on ones, Can't remember the name right off but Don't waste your money they are Junk. Actually I gave it to Rhett maybe he can tell you what brand it was so you don't buy one. Not trying to make a sale but I have a Bakpac might work for you if interested just make an offer. It needs a Venturi and I actually have 2 units for the price of one.

Bill, I know nothing about the bakpac. If it is a hang on, then do you need to modify the hood to the nano? My jbl 24 nano is stock with pc lighting and tight fitting hood.

I did find one from oceanic for nano's that looks like it might sit compeletly inside the back of the nano. As you can tell, I just started looking at getting this thing, and still not sure if it is the right move.

I'll have a good one for sale soon you could hang on, Norman. And unlike Bill, I AM trying to make a sale. :D

i have heard that the biocube one works decent on the 8 & 14, but the 29 w/ any kind of bioload....not so good

now i have heard nothing but good things about the tunze 9002. goto **would you looky there it changed the site name..how juvenile** (or maybe the nano forum here) & do a search & you should find several threads on what small mods you have to do to the hood for it to fit

The biocube works ok on the JBJ 24. SIts right inside back of the tank. I have never needed a skimmer on my nano..why do you think you will need one?

I just see a lot of crap floating on the surface was the only reason. I do water changes weekly, but still see this stuff sitting on the surface of the water.

in that case, i have one of the hydor flo deflectors on the return of my biocube 8 & it keeps the surface nicely agitated & decent amount of random flow throughout the tank

I'm using that little piece of plastic that sits in front of the drain into the sump area, if that is what you mean. I check with Chris at the AC today and they sell an oceanic nano skimmer and they are getting some new model in, so I'll wait and see what that is before I do anything.

In the mean time I have put back in one of the sponges I took out and replaced with a lot of rubble rock, and see if that helps at all.

Use the overflow plastic thing, and a Hydor flo. I use that and my nano is spotless. I was surprised but it does a very efficient job. No skimmer needed on the nano.
