bdare is your tank on steriods??? That is crazy growth. What do you attribute the fast growth to the most?

Well... I just figured out the old picture of my tank is from last March, not August. Hope that makes you feel better :)

As for the growth... I don't know. Not all the corals are growing that fast. The green mille, blue polyp BN and green bali slimer are by FAR the fastest growers. When I started the tank I had a single 250W Phoenix. LOTS of par. Recently I switched to 2 x 150's because some of the SPS on the edges were growing funny.

I dose with 2-part from Bulk Reef Suppy. My only wish is that some of the stuff would color up better. I have a blue tenius that's been with me from the beginning which is pale tan with blue tips :(

I should have made this a 2 part question...how long is your photoperiod?

I raised my lights about 2 months ago from 4-5" off the surface to around 10-11" and growth and color has exploded, have 1X HQI 250w Helios, I know I was prolly photo inhibiting growth and to a degree color when the light was that low, now the corals have done a complete 360 degree turn for the better, amazing! anyhow still tinkering with my photoperiod to try and nail that down and wanted to get some input from other Nano SPS keepers as to what practices of lighting their keeping with

Thanks

please keep us posted as to how the 7hr photoperiod is doing for you, I am very curious. I have found that one of the hardest things for a thriving SPS Nano tank is lighting, granted I'm not privy to trying out tons of different lighitng set-ups, the lighting has proved to be the most difficult challenge for me personally

heres my lil setup 25g

i was wondering too if i should increase my photo period right now i run it for 6.5 hours??

also it is a 250W HQI 20K XM in a lumenmax 3 pendant the bottom of the pendant is about 5" off the waters surface.

Looks good to me man. With colors like that I wouldn't mess with it!

thanks! i think its the 20K really making colors stand out i had always used phoenix 14ks before on my larger tank but decided to try the 20k since this is such a small tank didnt think the loss in PAR would be too detrimental so far i like what i see just waiting for a few more things to get to there full potential especialy my pink lemonade frag...

I think it looks GREAT! I'll be switching from Phonenix to Radiums here very shortly.

thanks for the kind words

yea i think growth has suffered from not using the phoenix but i really dont care since this is a nano i dont want things growing outa control anyways i just want some bright pieces.
