Nano Streams, When Can We Get Them?

Hi,

I have checked a couple places I normally do my ordering from and have not seen the nano streams listed yet.

Are they available now? If so who has them? If not when are the estimated to become available?

Scott

They are not yet available. The 6025 and 6045 should be out in late September.

The 6055 should be out right before Christmas.

Will they be available through online vendors who already carry Tunze products? None of my LFS carry Tunze is why I'm asking.

Dave

Roger, you would use a 7095 controller for the 6055s? Can they be cycled aggressively on and off or slow and fast like the regular streams? What is the minimum cycle time?
Thanks!

Roger, I'm considering 2 6045's or the 6010 kit for my 75. I'd like the 6055's, but I just can't justify an additional $100 for flow control. So what would you recommend, the 6045's or the single 6010 and controller?

Dave

The 6010, but why would you be willing to buy a 6010 and not a 6055? The 6055 is basically a miniaturized 6000 with a bit less flow.

Could the two lower models work on a timer that alternates every 20-30 minutes?

Anyone know the anwser to this? I could really use the 6025's in my 18g, but I would dislike having the same intense, directional flow 24/7.

Yes, I believe the final word from the factory will be 15min intervals. It isn't as critical as on the 6060 and 6080 but shorter intervals result in noise and possible impeller damage.

I'm willing to buy a single 6055 just like I'm willing to buy a single 6000, I just thought the additional 400gph might be beneficial going with a single pump. You think one 6055 would be sufficient for my mixed reef 75 (light on the SPS)? If so I could do that and a controller for about 70$ less than the 6010 kit. But I may go with 2 6045's on 20-30 minute intervals since you answered that question.

Great, that's what I was hoping to hear. Thanks Roger

I think 2 6055 would be the ideal, you are really saving more like $110 considering the magnet holder is included with the 6055.

I get the feeling it's going to be just about impossible for Tunze to keep up with the american orders of nano-streams (all 3). I mean why would you ever by a seio or maxijet 1200 again with the 2 smaller nanostreams so low cost?

I hope not, this has been the subject of a lot of discussion at the factory. Our older products even the Stream and Wavebox are made in an old fashioned way. Tunze is a 46 year old company that was around in the infancy of aquarium keeping and back then products were not needed in mass quantities. As a result our production techniques relied largely on hand labor. While modern machines may stamp out the parts, coils and cables are hand soldered and then place on jigs and hand filled with sealant. Such techniques reduce production efficiency and are a hold over from when a few thousand a year was more than enough. The nano Stream and most of our new products are purpose built to be mass produced by robots. They will be made in Germany but from the beginning the emphasis was on being able to produce a lot of them efficiently. If a product is designed for mass production it shouldn't be an issue to make enough, vs trying to make the older product lines adapted to mass producing which is not easy.

Anyone knows how much the 6055 is? Please let me know the site where you would pre-order your nano stream.
