Nano Streams, When Can We Get Them?

<a href=showthread.php?s=&postid=8447928#post8447928 target=_blank>Originally posted</a> by Mishap
I'm setting up a 40 Breeder which I plan to stock with SPS and some Zoas. I would like to use 2 nano streams to add flow from the corners. I plan on controlling them with an Aquacontroller Jr. and cycling them on 30 minute intervals.

My question is which of the tunze streams would be my best option? I'm torn between the 6025 and 6045. I can't justify the extra money for the 6055.

Thanks,

Matt

The 6025 covers a 24" by 18" area, the 6045 covers a 36" by 18" area.

Not sure, the 6025 are coming in very well, I should have over 500 by the end of the month. I will call tomorrow and try to get more info on 6045.

Roger,
which nanostreams would you recommend for a 58 mixed reef.?right now i have ~480-500 coming from the return,a seio 820. i would be placing these on opposite back corners.

The 6055 would be the ideal, you can control them and pulse them on the 7095, the 6045 would be my second choice.

Yeah, please lets me/us know. I was hoping to get the pump at the end of Oct.

I couldn't get through today, I called a dozen times or more. I will try again tomorrow but this is a tough week as if I recall daylight savings time ends a week later in Germany, first weekend of Nov instead of last in Oct, so it is now an 8 hour time difference and I have less waking hours to try to reach them.

Roger,

Do you have any stores in your area where I can pick up two 6025s? I live relatively locally here in Houston.

Thanks,

G

AquaTek in Austin has one, we got a few early versions that were missing rubber feet (we put a set in every box here). That would be the nearest store that will carry them, they will get a few more next week.

pre ordered 6055

pre ordered 6055

Hi roger. I talked to you about a month ago on the phone about pre ordering a 6055. you told to go to Aquarium Specialty which I did and preordered one with controller and photo cell. Ive been waiting to add more sps's untill I get the pump. my question is, are they still planning to be on time for shipment or are they going to be held up like the 6025 and 6045? you said early/mid december.. is that still the plan? thanks

On the 6055 I am unsure, I am fairly certain the factory will do everything they can to get them out before they close for the year on Dec 24th. The 6045 will start shipping in 3 weeks, the mold is out for tempering and that has been what has delayed the 6045, they expect the mold back next week and production should begin the following week as next week they will finish up the 6025 run.

what do you recommend the streams on a 75, 4 foot long? i only have 4 mj1200s and wanting more flow upgrading. will two 6055 do the trick?
also can i put them on my aquacontroller and set the ac to alternate 15 minutes or do i need your tunze controller?

They have arrived and all dealers will have them in stock by the end of the week, but I would get an order in soon. I expect Thur the first dealers will get their pumps, most will get them Friday.

I'm getting ready to setup a 40 gallon breeder w/ a 20 gallon sump. I want to use the nanostreams. I am wondering which would be the better solution: 2 or 3 6025's or 2 6045's I like the flow from the 6045's but I am afraid they will kick up sand from the bottom. (The tank is only 16"inches deep. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

This is almost exactly the size of my tank, although it's a different shape. After all sorts of wild guessing, I'm going with 2 6025s, for the simple reason that they're coming out soonest....I also have a pair of 6045s on pre order in case my tank would tolerate more flow w/out a sandstorm. Lately I've been thinking the 6025s will suffice; Roger says they "cover a 18"x24" area." I suspect your decision, like mine, could be made easier by availability of the 6025s, unless you're still a few weeks away from setting up your tank.

I had a 40 breeder a few years back with an iwaki 20rxt return (600 gph) plus 4 maxijets once the corals started growing in. 4 maxijets is still less flow in gph than a pair of 6025s, but until they actually come out and we can get a idea of how the flow characteristics look, it will be really difficult to predict how to use them.

Thanks for the response. Availability is not really an issue for me because I am not going to have the tank up and running for another 2 or 3 months. I already have the tank stand and sump but I am waiting until tax return time to make the bulk of my equipment purchases. As for now its research, research, research. I have setup up tanks in the past by just buying whatever, which leads to mistakes and a lot of wasted $$.
The 40 breeder is 36"L X 18"W X 16"D. If the 6045's wouldnt cause a sandstorm I would love to try them because their flow nearly doubles the 6025 with a minimal power usage increase.
Either way it looks like these powerheads will be the best thing since sliced bread.

The 6055 is really the ideal as you can control the flow to suit your needs. I think the 6045 would be fine though, you would want to have two most likely but only run one at a time.

Awesome, thanks for the advice. I might end up with the 6055 and a controller but I like the lower cost associated with the 6045's.

Im really not pleased that these have been delayed months. You really owe it to us to be accurate so that people, like me, dont buy the pumps on preorder and end up waiting nearly 3 months for them.
