Nano Tanks of GIRS

Hi Al, it's a venturi skimmer. I had a Tunze 9010 and was impressed with it so I decided to try the 9002 on a nano to see what it would do.

Yes, it's skimming wet as that is my intention. Trying to remove as much as I can to keep the tank clean. :)

How quiet is it?

I always wanted to add a small tank in my bedroom and those skimmers always seem to be suggested for noise.

That's a neat skimmer, can you show us a full-tank shot with it in?

Spring break next week, so my new goal is to get my nano reorganized. Now that I just publicly announced this, I have no excuses not to!

Hey Covey, the thing runs silent. I expected it to since the 9010 skimmer I had before was silent as well.

Lee,
I don't think you want to see the FTS of it in there! :D I have it mounted in the front of the tank as of now. I can easily fit it in the overflow area if I cut a notch out of the plastic trim. I would've done that already but I'm selling the BioCube to a buddy of mine and getting a new nano built. It's not going to be ready until the end of March and then I'll be able to put it in its final location.

Okay Lee, I got you an FTS. Just don't pay attention to the red slime I have in there right now!

I've been doing nano-reef's for a little over 3 years. My 15 gallon is still going. I've been running a Coralife 2x65 compact flourescent, a cpr hang on refugium and 2 minijets on a wavemaker. This tank has been up since Jan 2004, here's the current look.

Seen this tank in person.... its got a ton of color in it! Al even gave me a couple snails and a frag for my youngest daughter! (She loves the frags)

Thanks again Al for the tank, light, and livestock goodies!

I need to take a few pictures of my nano and post... but don't wanna hear about the algae on the front of the tank! :p

No problem, glad she liked them. The astrea's should wipe out the algae.

Phos always tests 0. Seems to pretty much leave the big rocks alone and plaques the smaller frags I left in to attach stuff to later. I change 1 1/2 gal a week with very little top off. Lately been topping with SW to try to bring sg up slowly so no tap water.

Gold sea mat: Here is the best picture I've found of the color and shape I want. You'll have to scroll down about 1/2 the page to see the pic.

Great zoos. I think some people call those cotton candy zoas. Would love to trade for some of those.

I saw the pics you linked to for the gold sea mat. Whatever you do, don't buy from AquaCon. Lots of reefers on here have been ripped off by them.
They truly put the CON in AquaCon.

On another note, does anyone use the tunze nano pump in their tanks? I bet that puppy would keep the slime off the sand/rocks.

I haven't yet but plan on getting a 6025 for my next tank. I'm going bb on it and give it some nice flow. :D

Haven't and don't plan to buy from them, have heard some not so good things. Just like the size/shape of the heads in their picture. Actually I have been working on a trade for some buttons that have a turquoise center. Really want them after I saw them.

As for the pink zoos -- I have 2 frags that never made it to Rockford. PM me if you are serious, if not they will probably be at the April auction.

There are also two new Purple/gold sunflower polyps but placement makes them hard to photo.

Nice start to your nano! Are you duncans supposed to be that color? I didn't know if they were supposed to have a deeper color to them or not.

Sweet looking zoas. I really like the Blasto I'm going to have to get some of that for my nano.

I will have to post some pics of my nano. I have got a few new things sence the last time I posted.

The picture of Duncan was taken about an hour after it was first put in tank. Not happy after shipping. It is more lime green with a little lavender. I have noted it opens up much better with just the moonlight on. I think I am gonna have to move it. It just doesn't seem happy where it is.

Cool, I hope it opens up and does well for you in lower lighting, it's a nice coral.
