Nano Wavebox Issue

Hey Everyone, just a quick question about my nano box, can you run it without the photo sensor? It crapped out on me last night (i know this because when you move the end it sometimes starts to work again) When i unplug the sensor the pulse stops all together. Just wondering if it forces the controller into feed mode and you have to wait the 9 minutes for it to start again?

In general making any cable connections when power is applied can result in unintended actions like feed mode being activated. The photo cell is totally optional, it just turns the wave box off at night.
