I don't have a tunze, but I do have a maxi mod. It modifies your maxijets with a propeller for more flow. The modded maxis are much smaller(in size) than tunze with comparable flow rates, and you could have one on each end of tank pointing towards each other, and you could put them on a timer. Tunzes are much larger, unable to put on timer(I may be wrong on this).

Whatever you decide, permanently mount powerheads to hood with a DIY bracket, hanging down into tank, suction are cups unreliable, and the pumps eventually fall and blow sand all around, in some cases killing inhabitants.

i would use more than just one pump for circulation, that way you can point them in more directions so that you won't have dead spots. i use 2 6026 and one 6045 with a eheim 1260 for my 90g

That would be a good choice. I love Tunze products. :) If you have 5x flow through the sump with the Tunze 6060 that would give you roughly 26x turnover. Depending on what you are keeping you could easily up the flow with a couple Nanostream 6045s instead. Then you'd have approx 36x turnover, and more placement options since you have two to work with. Or, just do a 6080 and you'll get about the same amount of flow. ;)

Do you think that would be too much flow for low end stuff? Like zoas and mushrooms and riccordia? I don't plan on keeping a lot of SPS.. was afraid I would over do it?

Yea, that's a good point. I was just trying to get away with just one for looks.. but I guess two make more sense. Thanks.

I have a tds meter that came with my RO/DI system. :D I am getting two 6055 nano streams with the controller for my 90gallon, i think for a 75 gallon two 6025's would do for your tank.

Update!

Well, the skimmer arrived tonight in good shape with no problems. It's the ASM G3.

We also decided to go ahead and use a "temp" sump for now since we already had the parts for it. We siliconed in the baffles tonight and will let it dry for 24 hours before we test it for leaks. Hopefully this will work well enough for us until we can get the acrylic sump made.

Here is the skimmer.

Sump with skimmer in place.

Water progress! We now have enough water made to go ahead and fill the tank up tomorrow night if all goes well with the sump.

Nah, I have 30x+ flow in my 40g and all my shrooms do fine. The more flow the better, imo. Placement is key, might take a few tries to find their happy place. :)

Btw, the 'temp' sump looks killer! If the real sump you are preparing to build looks half as good I think you are going to have success. Nice work.

I think the doggy is just jealous. :D

Do you think two pumps on opposite sides is the way to go? So I can create different current instead of one more powerful pump?

Thanks! I'm happy with the sump for what it is. Test it tomorrow night for leaks. Crossing fingers!

Yes, he's a very spoiled dog. Mine mine mine. He'll steal toys not bc he wants them, but so nobody else can have them lol.

I like having a couple powerheads in my tank. Allows for more flow options and it does create a random flow pattern when the two intersect. If it were me, I'd do two Tunzes. :)

I've also just now decided to order two Tunze Turbelle NanoStream Pump 6045's.

That's going to be a ton of flow lol. Are you sure that's not too much for my 75? :)

Okay, I've decided to go with the Tunze Auto Top Off :)

why not just make your own ATO? you can make one for less than $15 and its take about 10mins. The tunze system is good but not $200 good.

the nanostreams have a wide flow so it won't be too much for your tank at all. you can even add a second one if you want.
