Aww thanks :)

No updates yet really... The canopy is low so if I get the Reef Optix Halides that I was thinking the fixture will be about 2" over the water, and the bulb about 5" over the water.. cutting it a bit close... so my option is either to cut a hole in the canopy, use them as is, or find something else.

I can't find anything smaller... so what I was thinking of doing is building something that sits behind the tank for my tank mount clamp ons since I already have them.. that way they would fit, be a bit higher off the water.. and see how we like the looks of just 2 150MH. Still debating on whether or not to get T5's to supplement.. maybe 2 of them.

Hopefully we'll figure it out soon.

Yea, I sell my glider babies when I have them, but it's just for fun it's not a business. They are great you should get some!

:)

Tank Cycle Update!

Well tonight we tested the levels and they are almost perfect across the board. The "test corals" we have in there are doing good so that's encouraging. Oreo ate again tonight so I think we're safe. The skimmer has also started pulling green skim :)

Here is a cool photo of a flower anemone (i think) that came in on a piece of LR we bought. Not the most interesting, but thought the photo was pretty :)

Hello NG, thats good news about your testing levels, I just tested levels of my tank (all good as well:D ).
Are you going to be building an acrylic sump/fuge or leave what you have now? Just wondering.

Good to hear :)

We are going to build a bigger acrylic sump. The one we are using now was just to get the tank up and running. Hopefully in the next month or so we can get on that.

I was going to make an acrylic sump myself but wimped out, so now I have a 5.5 gal fuge that drains into a rubber maid sump. Not very pretty but it works.

I noticed from other posts here about return pumps, no one seems to even consider quiet one pumps. I have one for a return(about 2 years) and one for my homemade calcium reactor (2 months) and have not had any problems. They are affordable, quiet and energy efficient...just a thought.

Well good luck to you, when you do get time to build your sump/fuge.

I believe that is in the mushroom family, more likely a frilly mushroom perhaps. Or maybe an elephant mushroom (eats meaty foods as it closes up into a balloon / bubble).

That's cool, thanks. I think I am going to go with the Ehiem 1250. My sump isn't very pretty either. Oh well :) Thanks and good luck with your tank too!

Hmmm... interesting. Do you think it's unsafe to have that in my tank with two small clowns?

I can't find a head loss chart for the Eheim pump. Do you know what it's rated at 4/5ft? I know it's 317gph, but is that including head loss?

While it is small, no worries. Just keep an eye on it.

Sorry, I don't understand those flow charts either.

Hmm... maybe I should just go with the Mag 7 or Mag 5 since then.

Thanks for the info :) Hopefully a LFS or someone local wants it I don't like it that much anyway.

317gph is with no head loss, at 5 feet it's approx 135gph. a little on the low side imo. the 1260 will give you around 400-450gph at 5 feet

From what the chart reads, it looks like at 4ft it will be roughly 190 gph. Does this sound right?

I agree Eheims are great pumps, but you gotta get the right one!!! :D The Mag 5 is a sure deal at this point. ;)
