I had always wanted a ferret but i dont think i could ever get used to the smell.

haha! mine is a female and descented... not much odor at all, but you can tell a bit if you hold her close.

Really, a female descented doesn't have that smell. Thats cool, my kids have been wanting one. Your "Interests" say you have sugar gliders. I thought about those. Are they a real spaz or can you hold them?

Nope, she doesn't smell bad like most of the ferrets you see at pet stores. She has a small "animal odor" but it's not bad at all. Her temp cage doesn't smell and they use a litter box like a cat. I couldn't deal with a bad smelling pet either!

You can handle/interact with sugar gliders if you get hand raised babies. If you're interested in them, look at my msypace page I have a lot of photos of them.

Thanks. Your tank looks great. PBT look awesome when they're healthy like yours. The zebra moray is one of my favorites. My next addition.

Oh, and dont worry about the ferret being small. I got these guys for my kids over 2 years ago and they were the size of a large mouse when I got them. Now they're HUGE.

Saturday Night Update!

Today was a long day for us, we had to drive about an hour away to our new house to meet with the people about stuff.. and I didn't get too much sleep... so I'm pretty tired tonight :)

Got the Tunze replacement part for the NanoStream and replaced that tonight. I took both streams out and cleaned them good and placed them back into the tank. Everything seems to be working good.

I found a fuge light at another wal*mart today. At least I hope this one will work. It says daylight 60 15w = 60w 6500K light output 900 lumens.

Any ideas? Only one I could find locally. If I have to order the ones before online I will, but if this works it would be easier.

And just for fun here is a photo of a baby sugar glider that is 5 days "old" O.O.P. (out of pouch). It's a leucistic male =) I've waited a long time for a leu baby!

Yea I was really excited when I saw it was a leu. 50/50 odds and she had twins. One leu and one het.

Thanks! Do you just have it screwed into those metal dome things?

Based on the bulb, you may not need to use the reflector at all.

The 6500K bulb works in growing plants. I've tried 6500K, 2700K, and 5100K. The last one worked best for me in the tests I ran.

Thanks! I read your page but I couldn't find the 5100k. I saw that it did much better then the 2700k, that's why i was thinking maybe the 6500k would work good enough. I can't find the one you use.

Here is a photo of the ones I got.

The reason you can't find it is because it isn't available at your local hardware stores. I think one day I'll just revamp the page to say "YOU GOTTA ORDER IT ONLINE!" and save everyone a lot of reading. ;)

With that bulb, use the reflector. However, before you install it, drill several 1/4" holes near the base of the reflector where the ceramic base will be. That will allow the heat to vent out and keep the bulb from overheating and shutting down.

Yes, that is fine, but you can buy the exact same thing for $5 at Home Depot in the electrical section near the extension cords (minus the bulb).

Thanks for your help =) I'll try and track one down tomorrow and get it setup and snap a photo! I really need to get this going.
