So I got my order from Marine Depot yesterday.

I ordered my Tunze Osmo, seaweed strips for Ocean, and a bunch of other dried food for him to give him a varied diet. Right now he eats like 5 different types of veggie flakes/pellets, frozen algae, and sometimes frozen mysis and brine.

My clowns are so fat they will eat anything, even the seaweed clipes!

I haven't opened up the Tunze kit yet.. but after talking to DR I might do that tonight. Other then that tank is doing fine... getting too much algae need some more snails and hermits I think. I was able to get the Nitrates back down under 10 so that's good :)

I will take photos once I get the Tunze kit working.

Whew! Finally caught up on this thread also!

NG, imo, it's not 30 yrs. of "broke" but, rather, 30 yrs. of "forced savings." Grats on being a FTHO (First-time Home Owner)!

... and a bit of unsolicited "advice": if your future fish room is to be upstairs, do the re-inforcing now. It might even be reasonable to leave that room without sheetrock or finished flooring; close the door until you are ready for the bigger tank then do what needs to be done. Open framing will make adding what's needed a snap without the mess of demolition.

Using something like Google SketchUp will help tremendously as you plot where things would go and what you might need where; electric, water, etc. Doing it now might add a few bucks but that can be re-couped by carefully selecting the Builder Upgrades, typically over-priced and often replaced sooner than 30 years. ;)

Why finance for 30 years what will be replaced in ten? Some things, like HVAC, are simply unavoidable but others, with a tiny bit of restraint and planning, can be avoided.

:steps off egg crate:
:apologizes for his years of building experience intruding on a glorious moment:

I am thoroughly impressed with your tanks and your efforts. That you raise Gliders speaks very favorably to your overall concern for critters! That degree of concern is abundantly evident in your tank.

Awwww well thnx a lot =) That was sweet!

Thanks for the great advice and ideas. I agree with them all. I asked about leaving a room unfinished for just that reason, and was told they could not do that, that it would have to have at least drywall and flooring otherwise it would not be able to be appraised by the lender. Bc I thought the same thing.. why pay for them to put down carpet or wood if we are just going to tile it? The answer: Cuz they say so! heheh.

We get to meet with everyone to specify exactly where we want everything... from electrical outlets, to ceiling fan fixtures, recessed lighting, dedicated circuits, security lines, phone lines.. everything. So yea we'll have to plan ahead for sure.

Advice and opinions are always welcome! Thanks for caring and helping us from making some mistakes if we're off the right track. So far I think we are doing pretty good... but I know something is going to slip by! :)

NG wow so new house and you just skip over the 120 idea off to the 180 huh?:D O yeah did you ever find a wrasse?

No! Probably stay with the 125 cuz it's a six foot tank.. better for Ocean. I like the 120 better, but Ocean won't. I don't think we're going to do the 180... have to see. That's a lot of money right now and we've spent so much in upgrades it's scary!

Yup, I got a six line that's been in my QT a few weeks now. Another couple more and he'll be ready for the main display!

Hi Nano,

A Big congratz on getting your new house.

As someone who has had 3 houses (and built 2) and used to work as an electrician, I will give you this advice:

Make sure to visit your new house at least once a week while it is being built and go through it and any things that are wrong, tell the building foreman ASAP (and throw a fit as needed).

I can tell you that the foreman on my last house was glad when our house was done :D

That being said, I have had NO issues with my house in the 2 years since it was built (my neighbors can't say the same).
Plus, it was built right and exactly how we wanted it.

Good Luck !!!!

I thought so, you can't mistake the look of a Shiba. Here's our 2 year old passed out after playing with his favorite stick.

Thanks! :) Yea, that's good advice. We will probably be going up there pretty often.. but it's like an hour away from where we live now... which makes it hard. But I def want to be there a lot so I can see it being built.

I'm going to take a ton of photos. I'll post some as it comes along :)

Beautiful Shiba :)

So I was outside in the backyard today with the dogs and I happened to look up at a huge tree we have in the backyard. It's got a big whole/knot just about my eye level. So I happen to look into the void and get quite the surprise!
